Mike’s Pharmacy countrywide competition….Rangers SC, Die Hard clash in today’s final

The Under-15 final between Uitvlugt Youths and Zeeburg Warriors for the Kidicare Trophy as well as the over-40 final for the Wellman Trophy between Shattaville Masters and Trophy Stall Masters XI  will also be contested.

In addition, there will be the highly-anticipated female category final for the Wellwoman Trophy between two very competitive Berbice teams, Heavenly Angels and Number 68 All Stars.

The day’s proceedings will commence at 1pm and run into the night under floodlights.

According to a press release from the Guyana Softball League (GSL), the organizer of the four-category tournament, the competition has made an enormous impact in each area that produced teams.

In the open/regular category some 143 teams have been involved,  and there were 29 teams in the female category and 21 in the Under-15 category.

Meanwhile, GSL and Mike’s Pharmacy will be presenting numerous giveaways today for teams who have participated and softball cricket fans who have supported the tournament. There will be cash incentives for teams as well as trophies.

Last Sunday in the semi-finals played at Eve Leary ground, Die Hard XI disposed of Safraz XI by 29 runs.

Die Hard XI won the toss and batted scoring 198 – 4 in 15 overs with Patrick Rooplall leading the way with a thunderous innings of 123 which included 15 sixes while Richard Patterson supported with 22. Shawn Murray was the pick of the bowlers for the opposition with 2-15 from 3 overs.

Safraz XI replied with 169-8 in their allotted overs as Rohan Johnson top scored with 30 and Terry Ali helped with 29 against the attack that was led by Rooplall (2-32) and Yassir Mohamed (2-51)
