Farm ‘A’ enjoys terrific day of softball cricket

Farm ‘A’ trounced the Farm ‘C’ team by 83 runs and they also got the better of Mon Repos in their second encounter while MYO defeated Providence. However, Providence bounced back in their second match to gain a victory over Land of Canaan.

Triumph made light work of Queenstown, Farm ‘C’ defeated Windsor Forest and New Mosque, Windsor Forest and Mon Repos gained walkover victories from Lusignan and Wales after they failed to show up for their encounters.

The competition continues Sunday with four matches at the MYO ground bowling off at 9am, with Providence versus De Edward, Plaisance versus Diamond, Mohammed’s XI versus De Edward and Queenstown versus Plaisance.

There are three scheduled matches at the National Park, La Bonne Intention versus Wales, then Mon Repos and Wales versus Farm ‘C’.

In the highest scoring encounter this past Sunday, Farm ‘C’ versus Farm ‘A’, the ‘A’ team batted first and posted a massive 167 for 3 in their allotted over, compliments of Leon Marks whose brilliant unbeaten knock of 121 was the highlight of the match.

Marks was supported by Vivian Bisson who contributed 20 runs against the bowling attack that was led by Erickie Thomas who finished with 2 – 26 before the ‘C’ team began their reply.

Two terrific bowling performances from Patrick Khan (4-12) and Sherwin Porch (3-15) restricted Farm ‘C’ to 85 in 9.1 overs.

In their other encounter, they batted first and rattled up 163 for 3 with Bisson leading the way with an unbeaten 91 and he was helped by Marks who contributed a sterling 58 while Hassan Bacchus seized one wicket for Mon Repos.

In replying  Mon Repos saw Azam and Akram Bacchus top scoring with 44 and 28 but the over expired with the score on 131 – 1. John Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Farm ‘A’ with 3 – 23 and Sherwin Porch pitched in with 2-17.
