KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Veronica Campbell-Brown is getting used to her new training routine and home in the American city of Atlanta.

The last couple of months have been about change for Jamaica’s top female sprinter, after she changed her coach and moved with her husband and Jamaican quarter-miler Omar Brown from the town of Clermont in the American state of Florida.

“I am fully back in training now and so far things are progressing well,” said Campbell-Brown in her online diary for the website of the International Association of Athletic Federations, the sport’s World governing body.

“I am adjusting and adapting to my new programme and looking forward to 2010. We have a training group that is very serious about practice and we all motivate each other especially when the training would get the better of us.”

Campbell-Brown is however, more pleased about the charity work she has been doing in her homeland for primary schools.

She recently spent a few weeks in Jamaica, where she distributed sports equipment and cookery items to schools there.

“While in Jamaica, I took time out to visit a couple of primary schools – Bryce Primary [the primary school of my manager] and Troy Primary [my primary school],” said the two-time Olympic 200 metres champion.

“It is the intention of our group [On Track Management] to give back to the primary schools that each group member attended as there is a desperate need for items at these schools and we the fortunate must take the lead in assisting our children as they represent our future.”

Campbell-Brown also used part of her time in Jamaica promoting her first book, A Better You – Inspirations for Life’s Journey.

“The book signings were done in the two major cities in Jamaica those being Kingston (the capital) and Montego Bay (Jamaica’s second city),” she said.

“They went well and I have gotten good reviews. Currently, the book is being carried by one of the major bookstores on the island.”

Campbell-Brown did not reveal too much about her plans for the coming season, but she previously noted that she was looking forward to taking the women’s 200m at the World Indoor Championships in Doha next year.

Meantime, Campbell-Brown and Asafa Powell, as well as World Junior and World Youth gold medallist Dexter Lee are heading to the Singapore 2010 Friendship Camp to be held from December 8 to 12.

More than 400 athletes from more than 100 national Olympic committees will attend the Camp – jointly organised by Singapore’s Ministry of Education, Singapore Sports School, and the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee, to give young athletes the chance to experience cultural diversity and have fun while doing it.
