Wayne `Wiggy’  Dover has been appointed head coach of the local women’s national  football team which will participate in an upcoming  triangular international  tournament, a press release from the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)  has stated.

The Women’s Friendly International Tournament kicks off Thursday among two representatives Guyana teams, one consisting of overseas-based players and the other comprising local players.

Suriname is the third team in the competition.

Dover will have Shawn Lythcott and Sherry Abrams as his assistants while Andrew Hazel is the goalkeeper coach.

Lavern Fraser-Thomas has been appointed Manager of the team with Lawrence Griffith performing the duties of Programe Coordinator/Logistics Officer.

Meanwhile, the GFF will hold a press conference from 11am today to discuss the upcoming tournament.

Canadian coach Edwin De Rosario, coaches Rohan Narine and Mark Rodrigues of the USA and Colin Baker are expected to be at the conference.
