GRFU call up 20 players for Uruguay Sevens

The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has called up 20 players to train in preparation for an upcoming seven-a-side rugby international tournament early next year.

The Punte Del Este International seven-a-side tournament is scheduled to take place in Uruguay on January 3 and 4.

According to a release from the GRFU the players will be in action today from 3pm at the National Park in the first scheduled trial match.

Thereafter, the players will be involved in training sessions under coach Laurie Adonis and his assistant Clinton Clarke.

Training sessions will take place from Monday-Friday from 4pm at the National Park, the release stated.

The GRFU has already indicated that Claudius Butts will be the captain of the squad to Uruguay.

Following are the players called to trials:
Claudius Butts (Captain), Dane Parks, Dwayne Schroeder,  Elwin Chase, Jason Tyrell, Joseph Rahaman, Kevin Mckenzie, Leon Greaves, Peabo Hamilton, Robin Cordis, Ryan Gonsalves, Ryan Hinckson, Theodore Henry, Troy Bascom and Walter George.
