Night of reflection, remembrance for Colin Wiltshire

According to a press release from the club, the event is being held in remembrance of Wiltshire’s life and contribution to cricket in Guyana.

There will be an open microphone session for an hour for persons who want to pay tribute and share experiences about the former DCC stalwart, the release added.

“It’s with great sadness that we at Demerara Cricket Club learnt of the passing of a distinguished member and former British Guiana opening batsman, Colin Wiltshire.

“Colin also opened batting for the DCC with which he represented with character and distinction,” the release added.

Wilshire was known for his array of strokes and his exquisite timing while batting.

Wiltshire, who died of pneumonia at a hospital in Trinidad following an operation for colon cancer, played eight first-class matches for British Guiana averaging 34.

His highest score was 197. As a member of DCC, Wiltshire substantially contributed to the development many young cricketers.

Tonight’s event, which is jointly organized by the DCC and the Guyana Cricket Board will start at 630pm.
