A minibus conductor was shot and injured by a “passenger” during a robbery yesterday afternoon.
The injured man is 36-year-old Lalbachan Gobin of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara.

Lalbachan Gobin
According to reports, Gobin was the conductor of a minibus plying the Parika/ Georgetown route. The suspect, a passenger in the minibus, asked to get off as the bus approached the Flour Mill road in Eccles.
The passenger reportedly paid Gobin with a $1,000 note, and while the conductor was making change, the suspect grabbed all of the money from the conductor’s hands. Gobin retaliated and the man pulled out a firearm and shot the conductor in his abdomen before escaping.
It is believed that the suspect only escaped with $1,000.
Gobin was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
Up to press time the man was in the theatre undergoing surgery.

police need to be more on the road patroling .At each corner there should be an officer.
avinash, Guyana is 83 thousand sq miles, and has under 1 million people, and if you should put a police officer “at each corner” as you suggested, Guyana will have to pay the police on the same scale as those in developed countries, then everyone will be a police on the corner.
Hey Lindenbanna , don’t forget to mention the bribes they people got to pay the police too .
avinash says:
“police need to be more on the road patroling .At each corner there should be an officer.”
I wondering which corner you are posting from. Do the maths, # of corners times # of police = revenue doesn’t have.
THE PRESIDENT SHOULD BRING IN THAT LAW, OF BUYING TICKET FOR THE BUS.
THE PEOPLE COULD BUY, FROM THE POST OFFICE AND THE
OTHER BUSES SHOULD DO THE SAME, EVERY ROUT SHOULD HAVE A
PLACE WHERE THE PEOPLE COULD BUY THE TICKET, NO MORE PAYING
WITH MONEY ON THE BUS,
