Isn’t it logical that panic should set in if people go missing?..The state of affairs of the country has changed recently with more prevalent kidnappings and murders in comparison to 6+ years ago when we all could not come home one saturday night and not have the entire country (or SN) give a damm.
Analogy—8 years ago if your lights went out, you knew it was the electrical company shutting down instead of a blown transformer…

this is a clear case of torture, the doctor father wants him back in the medical field and he wants to persue business. but why would a doctor want to give up his career and do business, were the doctor forced to take doctor training seeing he is qualified and so young. i see this issue as clear forces, and the doctor id prepared to run and his fiancee is prepard to run along with him even if he runs over board.

parents need to take their mouths out of their children affairs and be comfortable with what they choose all you can do is advise them. he could have committed suicide.

I don’t know what pressure the couple was experiencing but they could have acted responsibly. Could probably have left a note at home. If I were their parents, I would have folded their clothes neatly, put it in their car, then tie them up and give them a sound trashing.

I am no police , but I am a father and I know that something is not right here , why leave your car on the seawalls with your clothes neatly fold and end up in suriname , if they had want some time together they would have gone to a hotel somewhere far for a day , they need to be question a lot more by the police somethings dont add up in this story , I am smelling fish here.

You r so right, all parents becomes worried when our children, (whether grown adults or teenagers,)are missing,these parents could have given thanks to all, especially the media, who printed their cries for help, I have not read this, what I have read is, “we nah wan to tak bout it,” this is not good enough,the doctor, his girlfriend and parents r ungrateful, everyone became worried and was praying for them, in the end, they were found, case closed. They don’t have to explain their whereabouts/what transpired, just plain “Thank you to all concerned.”

To throw people off??? Maybe it’s cheaper???? Over here, a lot of people, park their cars and jump on the train or bus to get to their destination. Heck, I don’t know how things run in GT anymore. But these two sure made jackasses out of a lot of folks.

I understand that the situation as it played out, would have caused any parent and others to worry. But from the inception, it was my position that the two young people eloped or they just wanted to spend some alone time together. Of course they were irresponsible. Also, I question the media’s coverage of the story. It seems to me everyone jumped to conclusions about kidnapping and possible murder, suicide…and of course underneath it all…Guyana’s eternal race problem was simmering. The next step would have been the blame game – which particular ethnic group or even political party, village gang was responsible. The reporting was way too sensationalized. I have seen reports of other young people who go missing and those stories were not given the space devoted to this. What was so different about this couple?

People!People! I agree with many of u and lol at some but at the end of the day we as parents will be parents cause every action have a reaction rite. If that’s not their norm for doing the things they do hell yeah i would be worried and do what i have to do as a parent. When all is said and done something really serious happens to our children the police comes knocking. We all learn from our mistakes so hopefully in the future they become better people. IMHO ” the parents need to come forward and say thank you cause it goes a long way than just shutting up. the ordeal already took place nothing u can do. we are all humans we make mistakes.

When i lived in Guyana, i would not return home after work on saturday mid-day until late Sunday night and sometimes would return home on Monday if the sporting was too good. call in sick on Monday. No one reported me missing. they know I “gone out” and I was 18 -20 when I was doingthese things. Heck, I would even take off to Trinidad on friday and come back sunday night like I going to Berbice.

There is so much fear now and with cellphones, you have to check-in every minute with ” yeah.. i’m at the car park…yeah, the minibus pack and we deh by Plaisance coming..yeah we pass buxton thank god.. should be home soon”

Grown up people going to take care of business in Surinam that can’t be taken care of in GT is nobody’s businesss but the frightening situation in Guyana makes this inevitable.
Nobody should be charged with anything or be made to re-imburse cost for police searches.It is the lawlessness that the police has allowed to take over that create this ‘cry wolf’ environment.
