The 42-year-old man accused of killing a 49-year-old man and then stuffing his body into a suitcase appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with murder and was remanded to prison.
Lakram Doodnauth called ‘Chico’ of 30 Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Fazil Azeez.
It is alleged that Doodnauth murdered Rajah Alli last Saturday. Police, in a press release had said that Alli and Doodnauth were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued between them. This developed into an altercation during which Alli was chopped about his body, and placed in a suitcase which was left under a shed. He was later taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Doodnauth was arrested and later charged.
The matter was transferred to the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court for report on February 9.

This is unbelievable, clearly he wasn’t intoxicated he knew enough to chop the other person into pieces and put his remains in a suitcase. GROSS, Guyana should inforce the death penalty, because throwing him in jail doesn’t do any good.

There are times when I think that my Guyanese folks are all or almost all hitting rock bottom.The mere fact that the chopper did what he did and then placed the other in a suitcase, or even if he had hidden it it goes to show that he was’nt that drunk after all and should face the death penalty. He knew what he was doing, so rum or no rum,hang him high, and from here I will drink to that. ,
