494,that is almost a third of the entire GDF.

  3. It appears that I have read this news about the GDF promotions ages ago (the same with Guyana’s President Jagdeo’s visit to Libya – a news blackout… or very little news at all as to why this trip at this time and at tax payers money when the country is in desperate needs due to heavy flooding in low lying areas and caused by heavy rainfall). Can’t Stabroek News do much better than this; or, is it that Stabroek News has to wait on the GNA for permission to print/publish these Guyana Government related articles!!!

Kaieteur Gold..are you one of those who live for today alone and tomorrow provide for itself?…If there is excessive rainfall and the place is flooded do you believe every guyanese including the President should sit around the flooded areas and look at how the water is receeding and do not take care of other business…Is that how you go about doing your’s? You have to be logical with your comments not necessarily your views…

    • My learned friend; and, if you care to remember that there are two very interesting events (among many many others) that marked the soon to be ending Bush’s Administration terms in office; and, these are (1) The attack on the USA on 9/11 and the Aftermaths of Hurricane Katrina. Well, as far as the events that followed 9/11 go – will you rather you, or your children (or their children…) asking the question 5, 10… years from now – what the Bush Administration was doing while they were in office that the tasks of defending the country is then “hot” on their hands. As for number (2) it will appear that the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) is not equipped with as much as extra “canoes” to effect any rescue or with which to offer help to those distressed people in those water-logged communities in Guyana.

How about asking the Jagdeo Administration five years from now what they would have done differently as they have done following the Great Floods in Guyana in 2005. And, FYI it is now 2009 and not 2005; so, what has been learnt by the PPP led administration in Guyana (like the Bush Administration has learnt after Hurricane Katrina) since 2005? Do you care to tell the world!!!

    • This should read “How about asking (persons that were involved with) the Jagdeo Administration five years from now…”
