At the Reliance Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Persid Edmond remanded to prison a man accused of carnal knowledge and armed robbery.
The court heard that on January 11 at Mount Sinai, West Canje, Kenston Drakes, 29, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a woman. While armed with a weapon, to wit, a knife, Drakes also reportedly robbed the woman of a cellular phone valued $9,100.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Satrohan Dayaram opposed bail on the grounds of the nature, gravity and prevalence of the offences. He also told the court the accused is a repeat offender who was also facing rape and buggery charges.
In his defence Drakes said, “I know who rape she but I get arrested…I am disappointed with life.”
He was ordered to appear in court on January 26.
is this man for real or what – stated ” I know who rape she”, I guess i get arrested (you guess – Joe that is a fact you are arrested, there is no guessing about that reality) and I guess you will be doing time for whom ever you know that rape she
stated – “I am disappointed with life” – this is the classical case of folks blaming life, soceity and circumstances and everyone else for their criminal activities.
And have many who would be in pro of them, saying they don’t have opportunity and the government neglect them jobs.

quiban, you are right. However, I will go a little further and say this. The people who are engaged with these type of offences are people of a “primitive mind set” and to communicate with these people, one has to speak their language- primitive language. The obvious existing remedy is what you suggested. The next thing you will is the Human Rights lot who is going to say, but this kind of punishment is inhuman. I suggest that as soon as they are convicted, within 7 days they must have at least 7 lashes in them —. I am aware this will not stop them. The next stage is to send them to Saudi Arabia to Mekka -you know what I mean. The Beak.
