The PNCR says there is enough conclusive evidence in the public domain to warrant an investigation into the activities of confessed drug trafficker Roger Khan.

“Court records from Khan’s preliminary hearing into charges made against him for trafficking in cocaine to the United States have detailed the criminal and illegal activities of Roger Khan,” the party said at its press conference last week.

Khan is awaiting sentencing in New York having pleaded guilty to trafficking in some 150 kilos of cocaine and he also reversed his not-guilty pleas to charges of witness tampering and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The PNCR said Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon’s declaration that there is need for conclusive evidence that criminal and other unlawful activities took place in connection with Khan’s business dealings in Guyana before an investigation could be launched, proves that he “lives in a parallel universe”.

“It’s a difficult question to answer off the bat,” Luncheon had told Stabroek News when asked whether there would be an investigation into Khan’s businesses. “But I would say this [if] information is provided to the administration that conclusively shows or establishes that in his business dealings and in his activities in Guyana criminal and other unlawful activities have been taking place, prosecution would of course flow.”

The PNCR noted that the records in the American courts have alleged that Khan was responsible for the deaths of Donald Alison and Dave Persaud and also named Khan as heading a “paramilitary squad that would murder, threaten and intimidate” other Guyanese citizens. The US officials had also said that Khan’s squad was responsible for at least 200 extra-judicial killings.

The party says it is its confirmed belief that more than sufficient evidence existed for some time for the Commissioner of Police to have ordered criminal investigations into the activities of Khan in Guyana.

“The PNC is concerned that this investigation has not been undertaken yet. Every indication suggests that the Jagdeo administration is doing its best to frustrate such investigation…,” the party said.

It said it is not the first time the administration has frustrated efforts to hold Khan accountable for his crimes as when former Commissioner of Police Winston Felix decided to put an end to Khan’s criminal activities he was “hounded from office and sent into retirement.”

Prior to fleeing to Suriname after there was an attempt to arrest him in 2006, Khan himself placed newspaper advertisements in the Guyana Chronicle and the Kaieteur News stating that he had been involved in crime fighting in Guyana and had worked closely with local and US law enforcement officials.

The now dead George Bacchus, a self-confessed informant for a group which had targeted suspected criminals for execution, claimed that its formation was in response to the upsurge in violence. The then home minister Ronald Gajraj was linked to the group by Bacchus, but was subsequently cleared of any involvement by a Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

      You are so right.

Ever wondered why visas were withdrawn?

  2. Guy123 UNITED KINGDOM says:

This is all such a mess, sometimes I wonder if this could really be about my dear land of Guyana, government officials having their visas revoked and things that no matter how many alligations have been made against the previous administration were unheard of,this mess must be cleaned up,there are people who need answers, they lost relatives and friends in this melee!!

  3. gap1 UNITED STATES says:

There are many angles and possibilities to this story but here are a few questions to consider, given all we know.

1). Fineman was hunted and gunned down by this Govt while there is every indications and enough details to warrant and investigation and even issue a warrant for his arrest should he show up in Guyana again. The question is, why this resistence by the Administration to do their due diligence? Answer could be they are either trying to protect him, or that some of them did “business” with him or that he has damning information about some of them, therefore, fear.

2). Apart from the Bush 1 administration where Noriega was captured, tried and imprisoned by the US, other Govt Officials travelling to and from the US do have dimplomatic immunity, therefore they cannot be tried for any crime they committed while they were diplomats. The US however, may or may not chose to withraw their visa. Withdrawal of Dimplomatic visa clears the US govt to apprehend said officials, should they, say, appear in Trinidad, Surinam and/or elsewhere. The US however, still have the option to excercise this option “selectively”. Heads of States who are democratically elected do however present the US with a certain International Public Relations nightmare. Former Heads of States, do not.

3). All indications are, that Khan gave the US manna from heaven in his confession as could be gleaned from the light slap on the wrist he got, so yes, this remains and ongoing case, and an ongiong investigation, and I think the bigger fishes do have knowledge that they could fry as well.

4). What more and who more would an investigation into Khan’s activities unearth.

5). More to come, much more on the ongoing Saga of Roger Khan and “the Guyanese” who had “business dealings” with him and those that it was alleged that he killed.

  8. As far as this PPP Administration is concern Rorger Khan did
    nothing wrong.

When Roger Khan had pleaded Guilty last month in New York
President Jagdeo use these words “IF HE IS GUILTY HE MUST FACE
THE FULL FORCE OF THE LAW”.

The only way Roger Khan will be punish for his deeds in Guyana is if there is a change of Government in the country.

    • yarrow UNITED STATES says:

Poudman I always hear Felix say it their are many more Roger Khans in Guyana.

I always say it that the Government should go after all the overnight Business men and women in Guyana…..the only way to rid the system of the remnance of Roger Khan is to do a full investigation into his business practice and examin his connections and bring then to justice too.

This says a lot about the Government and its relationship with these overnight business men and women because they were Roger Khan’s friends too.

This prove the Government is a Narco Government if they refuse to go after Roger Khan and his remains. These business cause the ordinary Guyanese to be struggling because they have to compeat with the Narco business (goods and services)washing the money in Guyana.

This is why domestic violence gone through the roof, abuse of children, and trafficing in persons. The people have to mae the call for an investigation into Business man Khan and spread it to his friends for the safety of Guyanese.

Pollitickssss is dividing nations

    • it’s easy for you to say that in your comfort in canada, roger is a criminal and he should be investigated in guyana for his wrongs, stop making excuses for this crook.

    • Guy123 UNITED KINGDOM says:

Rhythm, will you stay on the topic please? We are not getting anywhere because everytime there is an important issue that needs to be addressed, you people always resort to talking about the pnc or Burnham or something totally unrelated, and the matter has to drop in the CONFUSION,I think this is a stratagy the ppp decided to use so they can keep getting away with their incompitence, and the supporters are in on the act,how long do you intend to keep this up? Until the country is totally destroyed???

    • gap1 UNITED STATES says:

Rhythm, maybe even now, there is a little kid running about the place in briefs who, as president of Guyana, would bring Khan and all his upholders to the right side of the law.

The problem with those of us who defend corrupt govts in Guyana, is that we don’t know that we’re all getting old and that everything changes as the years go by.

As my grandfather used to say, karma is all about meking yuh peace while yuh still alive because when yuh dead, time done, and is you and you alone that gat to face Bhagawan.

Retribution is not only for the one who did the actions, but for the upholders as well. When next you pray, make darn sure that you could still look God in the eyes–if you believe im him.

If you are an Atheist, then, ignore all I wrote before.

    • The man is going to jail in America for shipping or
trafficking 150 kilo of cocaine to the United States.

It was said that the group linked to him “KILL” plenty people in Guyana
that is why he must be investigated and jailed again
in Guyana, Khan is a drug dealer and a BOGUS businessman my friend Rhythm.

    • RS UNITED STATES says:

well said Rhythm. A lot of these naysayers like to jump and cry foul at RK and his doings. What many fail to realize was what GT was like when the gang of 5 escaped and wreaked havoc on Guyanese especially Indians Guyanese. I lived through the horrors unlike many of the commentators who post on SN. They were enjoy the comforts of another nation while I was ducking bullets. Most of the 200 who they claim were killed by RK’s men were tied to criminality and had a record. Go back and look at the records. Oh yes these were good church boys who were executed for no reason. Now I am not saying one should take the law into his hands, but Guyana was in a state of chaos and the security forces could not quell it. Some body had to step up and stem criminality. While RK will and has met his faith for his drugs crime but he should be acknowledge for fixing a stained period in Guyana’s history. Go ahead moderator edit away because you are on the side of the naysayers.
