…via Kids First Fund initiative

Twelve patients will be travelling to India for Open Heart surgeries under the Kids First Fund Initiative. Among the patients are two adults and ten children.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday Head of the Fund, former First Lady Varshnie Singh said that a contingent of 18 persons will be travelling to India next week.  In addition to the twelve patients, three parents of the younger children, Singh and two other volunteers are travelling.

Singh said that she had recently returned from the UK where she had travelled to raise funds for her organization. She said that locally the response from the business community and private citizens has been good and as such they have been able to raise the US$30, 000 necessary for transportation.

Meanwhile, Singh stated that the cost of the surgeries will amount to at least US$89, 200.  According to her, the hospital has agreed to perform the surgeries on a credit arrangement without adding any interest.  She explained that more funds will have to be raised following the group’s return on June 9.

Singh added that applications had been made to the Ministry of Health for assistance during last year but only a limited response was received.  She said that one patient received US$5,000 and another received US$1,954 during December. She expressed her disappointment at what she described as the non support of the government.

She said that she still does not have access to a vehicle so she has to depend on the “good Samaritans” to move around and to achieve the goals of the Fund. She said that when it came to moving the children around it was problematic.

Meanwhile, Singh further emphasised her commitment to the organization and stated that she was still a resident of Guyana.

This is the seventh batch of children to benefit from the Kids First Fund’s Heart Programme.  The programme is a partnership with Dr KM Cherian and the Frontier Lifeline Hospital in Chennai, India.

it’s good to see the controversal first lady restarting her
humanitarian work with the young children of guyana, but i have
ask her why she is not using the facility in g/town guyana (CHI) to perform some heart surgeries for these kids>??

    • Oldmudhead UNITED STATES says:

Good question. We should try for an answer. I suspect that it is not ready to do so many at one time on different cases. They use to print names and sometimes pictures. However, the need for it is very, very sad. Lets be grateful and hope CHI will do what the Eye clinic will do keep it at home. Come on naysayers

turdo i would love to hear or see pnc controversal corbin make like wise arrangement for any kind of humanitarian work for children to go to ‘AFRICA’…or get your hero Dr charles van south to perform this operation in g/t….

    • colin2nice GUYANA says:

COST!!! It probably will cost less to carry the children to Inda and bring them back for less money. Trust me I know!

    • G/t for life SAINT LUCIA says:

Crow, who is more controversial than our pee pee pee leader. He fooled us all by telling us that he was married, where on earth have you ever heard of that before? I don’t even know why they are still referring to her as the first lady. Great humanitarian work though.

  4. REDDY IN BARBADOS BARBADOS says:

Don’t forget this Kids First organisation was undoubtedly started for her by the government, probably through the President’s office, and she was assigned to it. This is normal in most countries when First Ladies are given something like this to do.
Despite Varshnie no longer associated with the Pesident’s office, we gon still get the no-hopers development haters like “STANDON SANDderoo” coming in with : “Why no names of the kids and photos so we can see the race of the kids ? Why, why,oh dear God, why ? There gon got to be discrimnation. De governemnt still to blame.Still to blame. Blame, balme, blame, Sob,sob, sob…”

    • BORAPORK CANADA says:

REDDY IN BARBADOS: Can’t you see something on the merits without adding some Gobbels’ spin or propaganda for the PPPs benefit? It becomes a bit wearing after a while. You think the Ex-president’s wife is devoid of an original thought and everything was arranged for her. Did the same apply to Janet Jagan or she was different? maybe you think that way about all women. Get a life and please stop seeing things through the myopic PPP lens.

    • NeNe UNITED STATES says:

Reddy, this is such a positive story please don’t mar it with your negative rantings and ravings. Leave that for another day!!!!

    • REDDY IN BARBADOS BARBADOS says:

Borapork, on the basis of Varshie’s shallow, self serving (and unsubstantiated) reported outbursts against the President’s office, you can’t put her in a leagaue with Janet Jagan. She, from what is reported, doesn’t even come close as well to the many other Guyanese women…
I forgot to write that the government of India should be commended for this ongoing development assistance to Guyana..

    • CFO GUYANA says:

      Just ignore Reddy.

Can’t we find somewhere to lock this person away for a long time. He is contaminating. Poisonous! Can’t he blog on the Chronicle blog?

    • Brandon Samaroo UNITED STATES says:

Redddy boy you are really BJ’s own lil pet arent you?

Now you attacking the first lady and taking claim for the woman’s own initiative?

I guess she wasn’t as shallow as the man who never sign the marrid papers and lied to the nation right?

  5. NeNe UNITED STATES says:

What a very positive story!!! What a wonderful thing to do for the children and thanks to Varshnie. Bloggers, please do not ask for pictures of the children – they deserve some privacy. Government should help fund the surgeries so that there is no balance owed.

  6. Saudia UNITED STATES says:

Reddy – put it on pause for a minute!
BoraPork – thanks for your comment. However, I think “Reddy” is blinded by his patriotism to “his massa.”

No one should doubt Varshnie Singh’s sincerity and commitment to helping sick Guyanese children. This is a worthy cause to support. Please publish contact information so that non-resident Guyanese like myself could send a donation.

Medicine and heathcare are prohibitively expensive the world over. Sources on the internet are saying that food grade Hydrogen Peroxide is a cure all for many diseases including cancer and aids.

They say its also good for your plants. So I sprayed some of it on two of my scraggly plants and within days the leaves got greener thicker and glossy.Try it and see.

I have included two videos. The first demonstrates how to mix the H2O2 from 35% grade down to 3%grade.

The second video is the testimony of a guy who said he was suffering from chest pains for many years. He was told that he needed bypass surgery. He did not want that and decided to try H2O2 treatment instead. He will tell of his result.

I have just started my own treatment for hight blood pressure.

Careful with the medicial advice there Joe!

Millions of dollars and years of research, trials and testing by major hospitals, clinics, universites and pharmaceutical companies are done to ensure the users are safe… not always fool proof but reliable.

Anyway people, warning, if it’s too good to be true …then it ain’t! Consult your doctor before trying any new remedies or medications.

Joe , my bro. Not to offend but you can’t keep up wid dem egg ball from da sista by de airport. Too much ah dat is de reason fuh de BP.

    • Joe UNITED STATES says:

I hear you Debbie, I am by no means trying to convince people to act against the advice of the medical establishment but there are some desperately poor people in Guyana that need medical treatment and cannot afford any. Mrs. Singh is an angel but even she cannot
afford to take care of all the sick and suffering.

All I am trying to do is to let my country folks know that if all else fails, if they cannot afford the expensive treatments and have nothing else to lose, there is yet some alternatives that they can try.

The medical establishment has spent millions on research and therein lye the problem. They will not allow any cure that is natural or inexpensive to be distributed to the public.

If you found an herb tomorrow in Guyana that people can use and cure themselves of aids or cancer, you are not allowed to bring it into the USA nor use the word cure. They will arrest you and seize and destroy your herb.

Only manmade lab concoctions that make you sicker with dozens of side effects and approved by the FDA are allowed to be sold as cures in the USA.

A sick population that is forever dependent on drugs is big business in the USA, not healthy people. Sources say that the drug establishment can make as much as 562,000 % profit on some of their drugs. So go figure.

This video will show the story of two male gay men who were diagnosed with aids. They were given 18 months to live until they heard and started taking Proaquazyme a new product that cost $30.00 for a 20 oz bottle.
