Two Guyanese construction workers, who were found dead in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, died of single gunshot wounds to their heads and police in that country continue to search for a motive behind the gruesome murders.

Reporters at the Trinidad Express newspaper told Stabroek News last evening that post-mortem examinations (PMEs) were done yesterday on the bodies of Narad Sookoo, 29, and Tameshwar Dooby, 22, both of whom were living in St Augustine, Trinidad.

The reporters said the PMEs disclosed that the men had been each shot once in the head. The Express reporters indicated that while Doobay’s relatives refused to speak to the media, Sookoo’s relatives would only say that he hailed from somewhere in Berbice. They could not say why he might have been killed in that fashion.

Yesterday the newspaper had described the finding of the two bodies in the Felicity River on Sunday afternoon, as “a scene that bore resemblance to that of a mafia movie.”

The report said that the two men were at their worksite around 4 pm on Saturday when two cars pulled up alongside the site.

It was stated that a group of men emerged from the cars and called across the two men.
“A heated discussion followed and the two men were bound by the group of men and bundled into one of the vehicles,” the report said.

Relatives of the men got word of the incident and made a report to St Joseph Police.
The bodies were discovered around 9:30 am on Sunday floating in the river just off Shipping Road.
The bodies were identified by relatives to be those of the two construction workers.

The men’s bodies were still fully-clothed, but their shoes were missing.
Police said their bodies did not have any other marks of violence.
