The main opposition PNCR says the alleged link between Health Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammy and confessed drug trafficker Roger Khan is enough reason for him to demit office.

Ramsammy was identified by Khan’s former Lawyer, Robert Simels, as the person who assisted in Khan being trained in the operation of spy equipment. used by the businessman for, among other things, bugging the office of the then Commissioner of Police, Winston Felix, and other top officials.

However Ramsammy has flat out denied the allegations and has questioned why Simels repeatedly named him in a slew of emails as being the government minister who assisted in Khan being trained in the operation of spy equipment. “I don’t know anything about that…” the minister said when approached by Stabroek News.

Ramsammy subsequently said that he was ready to undergo a polygraph test to clear his name in the matter should the Guyana Police Force request such.
He was responding to a call from the Alliance For Change (AFC) for his resignation or for him to submit to the test. Reports also quoted Ramsammy as saying that whenever allegations are made persons must permit the relevant authorities to do their job. “I have never been involved in any criminal activity and if there are allegations in that respect then the police must do their job,” he was quoted as saying. He also denied being familiar with technology intended to monitor telephone calls. He also denied knowing what it looked like.

PNCR chief whip Lance Carberry at a press conference yesterday, along with Amna Ally and Leader Robert Corbin, suggested that the minister demit office. “The PNCR believes that these allegations are serious enough for Dr. Ramsammy to demit office, in spite of his strong denials,” Carberry said, adding that “The President and Dr. Ramsammy are likely to engage in their usual charade of denials”.

  2. Marvin Persaud UNITED STATES says:

I don,t believe in polygraph test but if it is require, let it be,let the police do their job.Ramsammy was asked to step down by the opposition parties because according to investigations he was involved in the Roger Khan issues, well that is okay, but when innocent people are being robbed,murdered,etc-these opposition parties are not being so focus/keen/critical for the GPF/GDF carry out their duties in an efficient manner/way.Why?Probably,Biswattie can answer this.

marvin call up jagdeo and tell him you dont believe in Polygraph testing so he shouldn’t use it to fire his police and GRA peeps.

  3. Biswattie Ramsawak 174.113.121.253 not found says:

I remember when Varshnie Jagdeo accused ramsammy of harassing her on behalf of her husband and the PPP- he denied that too.

Ramsammy, you are an embarrassment to the People’s nonProgessive Party! oh… wait… thats an oxymoron, the PPP is beyond embarrassment.

Ramsammy the only way you can redeem your self in the eyes of the international community is if you come public with who within the PPP were complicit in the Roger Khan illegal activities. Otherwise the FBI keep your name on the watch list.

The US government will bring everything to light very shortly. Computers will produce all the necessary information and US have the expertise to scrub it clean. So, YES the goodly doctor should step down.

  5. MACK UNITED STATES says:

Ramsammy should be given an opportunity to take the pollygraph, although the accuracy of these tests are not reliable, because all we have now, is a bunch of accusations. Anyone can use your name in an e-mail.

  6. turbo UNITED STATES says:

the pnc ,afc or wpa alone can not force this ppp minister to
demitt office . they are not powerfull enough to do so, they
should seek the help of the usa/uk/canada.

  7. chippy UNITED STATES says:

Leslie Ramsammy should resign. The cookie is crumbling. Are these names familar: Roger Khan, Lloyd Roberts and Sean Belfield? They will all spill the beans to save their day. I am hoping that other names surface.

  8. Georgie UNITED STATES says:

Mr. Ramsammy must understand that he is not in control of the information that is in the court’s records. If the US gov’t determines a direct link between the drug kingpin and members of the Guyana gov’t, some of them can very well be hauled before the court. Robert Simels will do anything to clear his name.

  9. Only time will tell, the day of reckoning is at hand, i read recently mark benscop had a meeting with top u.s official, and human rights organizations and he gave them some names of prominent govt official who are linked to roger khan and his links to the killings of over 200 people in guyana, so guys watch your backs.

    • coolieman UNITED STATES says:

Mark giving names and accusation is easy but to prove it, does he have any proof of who killed 200 people in Guyana, he should also tell who killed those women and children sleeping in their beds.

    • Witch DR.(Your pain is...My Thrill) CANADA says:

Amen are you defending the Freedumb Fighters? They had no mercy on the innocent.Sometimes ROBIN HOOD justice is good despite all the strings that are attached.

    • don’t worry withch dr. and coolieman, the fbi are competent enought to solve those killings.

    • Brandon Samaroo (End the PPP Dictatorship Now!) UNITED STATES says:

benchcape’s credibility amen is as good as jagdeo’s 2 peas in a pod, I am surprised he is not actually a ppp main man.

Hold on dont be surprised to see him joining the ppp for elections in 2011.

    • gap1 UNITED STATES says:

Mark Benschop has an uncanny way of getting around people to access information. If Mark says has informaion, the US govt would be best adviced to take a look into it.
