I was saying to myself , well the goodly gentleman went to America and died , may his soul rest in peace, and the family made a decision to rest him there to avoid the guyana gov making his death a policial sideshow , well I was wrong there was the minister and his sidekicks standing up front and centre at the rememberance service wonder how they got there who money hope they used their own money not the tax payers money somebody should check it out hope they have a freedom of info act like america.

what i am writing relates to the late pdt.prakash gossai.
i was fortunate to listen to him on two ocassions and photographed him once.
everyone i know praises him and i also think he was a man to respect.however,the thing i find most disturbing was throughout his life,(even after he passed)i’ve never heard anyone mentioning anything about his wife.

I was there on Wednesday night and also on Thursday. The report is correct including the rain and the special police cars and police escort and all those persons who got wet and did not complain, but only mourn like his Mother would, the Sky shedding its tears for the loss of a Son.. The loss is only dear to those who care and not to others who care less for others. You guiryls have made some good points but please comment on what you know to be true, and not repeat others’ unconfirmed comments like parrots. Shanti to all.Regrads.

What a caption in Stabroek News above article “Thousands bid farewell to Pandit Gossai”? and photograph with Guyana’s ministers and official, Very nice?.

But after the funeral, the ministers, govt, and High court officials who travel to NY for the funeral at maybe taxpayers expense showed their true selves by partying at the “Shipwreck Restaurant & Bar” on Rockaway Blvd., Queens, NY until late into the night of 18th June, 2009 with one of Guyana’s largest contractor.

Agreed, he was a pandit, not a politician. However, as a close family friend, my family and I did attend the funeral from canada and there were actually thousands of mourners at the funeral. This was no exaggeration. By the way, Bisram needs to get his details correct. Prakashji’s son’s name is Arun, not Varun.

Guy2oooo Why ask? you know who footed their bill. Wa Ministas coming to the funeral?Like some big time officials arriving.. Jagdeo is accountable to no one,they take and take for themselves.Regardless. Look at the ones from Prado Ville.It is a joke when they say their family send stuff for them from New York..who are they fooling. I live here in Atlanta and the Guyanese population hear everything that goes on in Guyana.

They blew an opportunity to show that they are the more civil of the two parties even after no well wishes came from the PPP when Corbett was hospitalized. These two parties consistently keep missing opportunities to promote harmony, love, civility, and so on among its people. What the country needs are some true statesmen who can transcend petty politics and look past ethnicity, religion, etc and respect the basic humanity in each other.
