-lover confesses to murdering her – sources
The badly decomposed body of 29-year-old Arifa Muntazali of Number 64 Village, Corentyne has been discovered at Chesney Backdam, Corentyne and a man with whom she shared a relationship has admitted to killing her.
Her body was found in a trench with her hands tied behind her back.
The man who had at first denied knowing her whereabouts told police yesterday morning that the woman had hanged herself.
He later took investigators to where the body was and at that stage he confessed that he had killed her. He was wanted following reports that she was “kidnapped” and had been arrested on June 21.
Muntazali who would have celebrated her 30th birthday on Monday left her marital home on May 22 apparently to go with the man.
Her husband, Hafeez Muntazali told this newspaper last evening when contacted that the woman did not inform him she was leaving home. When he called her the same day she told him she had gone to a friend’s religious function and would be home later.
The following day he called again and she said she was coming the next day “for sure, no matter how late.” She never showed up but early the next morning she called and related that she wanted to return home but that someone had “kidnapped” her.
He said the woman sounded like she was being held against her will and when he tried to question her further the call was disconnected.
The matter was reported to the police on May 30 and according to a press release the man was arrested on June 21 at Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
Her husband said he was at work yesterday when he received a call from the woman’s sister that she was dead. He said he never had any problems with his wife, except that when he would “advise her” she would get annoyed.
He said she did not deserve to die so cruelly and that if the man had loved her he should have allowed her to “decide if she wanted to come home to her family. But he was jealous of her.” The couple has a nine-year-old daughter, Aleyaha Muntazali.
According to him his wife met the man four years ago when they had moved to live at Fryish. Two years later they returned to Number 64 Village but the relationship apparently continued.
Hafeez said that all day Monday he kept “wondering if she was spending her birthday somewhere.” He said he had a lot of plans for her “but look how it turned out.”
Yep, tragedy of battery and murder continues in Guyana.
Am I off key, or do we see this practice being more prevalent among east indians in rural communities?
That is for darn sure what you stated and you know why that is
happening to them it is because these men like the Rum
and when they drink they get stupid and start using there cutlasss. I am not saying that nothing should be done about these
kind of crimes but these women need to make a report and also get
to hell out of these realtionship, in this case she was married
and was having an affair with another man who took her life. I
am 99.9999% sure that he was drunk or he is man that loves his
rum and that is the bottom line.
Rum may have something to do with it but why should these women have to have an affair with another man,when at the same time they have their husband?That is cheating,dishonesty,etc.If your husband is not treating you good e.g financially,morally,physically,sexually,etc
communicate with him,explain the problem and try to solve it,if possible with both of you present-seek councel from elders you can trust,someone in your family,in your community,in your church/mandir/mosque,etc and if things still remain the same(no changes after a few months),try it again and if you know you can,t handle it any more,tell your husband clear out that you can,t take/handle it anymore and you think there should be a seperation.why cheat?Many people may want to say because of the child/children they don,t want to seperate but it is better to seperate than living together and let the child/children see quarrel/argument everyday and have no peace.Remenber the husband said when he would advise her she would get annoyed-that is a disagreement right there,which have to lead to quarell/argument.Another thing when something like this happen(affair with another man/woman),people usually see and hear and how disgraceful is that to the person and family.Look at this incident,it sad what happen but how will the family live with that,especially the kid?It would have better for her to seperate from the husband before doing such thing.Who knows the another guy want her to live with him permanently and that was the disagreement that lead to ignorance,jealousy and he kill her.He wasn,t the right person for her anyway,if he really love her,he wouldn,t kill her and she should have known that a long time before and stay away from him because the husband mentioned that they met four years ago,don,t tell me for four years she never experience this guy violent behaviour,she probably experience it the first year but still continue the relationship.So this is an example for all those woman out there who are cheating and being dishonest to their husband.Why lie?you don,t want someone,move on but let the person know before you do it.An old saying:HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY.Although these days we hardly find honesty,that saying is still there and we should TRY our best to live it.Any wrong thing a person do they have to pay for it in days,months or years to come,now look what happen to her-so sad,my sympathy goes out to the family,may God help them to overcome and face this tragedy.Finally,I hope the family get justice and this guy get the highest penalty as soon as possible and let it be an example for the rest of ignorant and evil men out there,this guy is not human,he probably get the shape/looks as human but he is not,he have a evil and dirty mentality,how old is he?he should spend the same amount of years in jail or even more.

A statistical test would show no significance difference between the two ethnic groups.
This man was a very good loving husband,I hope he will find someone as loyal and loving to him in the future,my sympathies go out to him and his daughter for their loss,and I hope that justice will be served,and that wife stealer will be put somewhere far away from other people’s wives,a very sad story!!

Oh what a tangled web …The good news is that he confessed and is now in custody. Hope he gets a speedy trial and spends some serious jail time.

In these modern days, while death is not the penalty for adultery there is some poetic justice in the outcome of this relationship. May the jilted husband find a trustworthy partner and the killer get the punishment he deserves.
