Juan Gabriel, if Guyanese had some of the "peculiar hang-ups"
that Bajans have, Guyana would be a prosperous, flourishing place that Caricom nationals and people from all over the world would be flocking to. Instead, it is...Well, it is what it is.

lol Brandon Samaroo, when Americans and the British see the ad in newspapers, they will applaud Bajans. Americans and the British are calling on their governments to crack down on illegal aliens, which is exactly what Bajans are doing.

a bajan: When did asking questions and seeking answers become an attack on Barbados? When did pointing out some facts become an attack on bajans?

I believe Barbados has the right and authority to make their laws and implement them. I have a problem in how they are implemented.

By dint of a very good education, excellent professional life and wise investment I do not need to work, and now I use my time to educate bajans on the realities of life and the world. You are proof positive that living on a rock of 166 square miles can be very limiting and intellectually stifling.

Thanks guys. Actually if I write a letter to the editor (and I havn't for sometime now, much more fun on the blogs) I use my real name, but for the blogs, well I rather remain annonimous. But who knows I might change. As for credit, it's fine, the important thing is the message, doesn't matter who said it.

yes freespeech that is the purpose of consular representatives around the world go and read and enlighten yourself. Even if our citizens get into trouble with the laws of the host countries our representatives are there to assist our people regardless of what crimes they have committed.

Do you understand that freespeech or is that too difficult for you to comprehend?

Why are so many bloggers talking about the way in which the Bardadian Government conduct their business regarding ridding their Island of illegal residents? There is nothing wrong with with arresting illegals who have become a cancer (prostitution, drug running, et al) to the life blood of the Island. In the 70's the US immigration conducted early morning raids on residents suspected of residing there illegally. If someone occupies my property illegally I will use every means to to get rid of them, especially if they are destroying my property. ISNM

Thanks SN for keeping us informed about this issue. Are guys forgetting that SN was the only newspaper who sent a reporter to do an investicated report.

Sorry my friends but the way I see it SN is keeping both the Barbados and Guyana government on their toes. We may have known the what was happening, because Chronicle NCN would not tell us. Congradulations is in order the independent media.

Mr. Venezolano you must check your facts. Do you think Bajans believe everything we read in the Stabroek News. The fact are that if ANY hotelier or any other established business in Barbados wants to bring in foreign labour to work for them. They must first advertise the position in the local media. If then they find no suitable person they then have to advertise AGAIN that they have found no one suitable. Then they have to apply to the authorities for a work permit for the person they want to bring in. So check your facts. The fact is that we have many Bajans in Management positions in our hotels. Don't believe everything you read in the papers.

Bajans know that there are Caribbean Nationals who understand our Government's position as stated before we are not stopping ANY Caribbean National from coming to Barbados. In fact we welcome all, but don't tell our immigration authorities that you are coming for two weeks and 13 months later you are still in the country. We have children here that are not attending school because their parents are not legal so the children cannot benefit from our free education system. What will these children do in 20 years time with no education. Think of the children.

Bajans love people but do not try to take advantage of our welcoming nature when you do yes we will take the crap for a while. But when we act the ones that are on the wrong side of the law will be deported. We welcome you all to our Crop Over festival, come and "wuk up" and have a good time, but make arrangements to go back home and honour your arrangements.

If you want to work in Barbados talk to our immigration before you come find out what the proceedure is. If you come and want to take a chance and travel to Barbados to see our immigration officials to talk to them about working in Barbados do so. But if you do not find a job and have no work permit by the time your time is up leave the country and our immigration officials will not have to escort anyone out of Barbados.

Last of all again you voted for a Government to help Guyana progress. If they are not doing anything use the power of your vote to get the right people in. Note I did not say the right party because there may be "bright ambitious sparks" in your present Government who may need to come to the front. But do not blame Barbados because you have to leave to find work. If you have to leave let it be voluntary we welcome you. You have done Barbados well but do it legally. We know people might take a chance but when you are caught fess up and leave peacefully. Do not go back to Guyana and tell everyone only that you may have been treated poorly by immigration. Say I "John Smith" was in Barbados illegally for 4 years and I was given 6 months by Barbados immigration and they caught up with me". Then tell Guyana about the bad treatment. If you do that then we bajans will support you and deal with any bad treatment by our immigration. But you cannot expect to be here illegally and immigration to call and say that they are coming at 4.30p.m to takeput you on a plane back to your country.

And in the words of a well known Barbadian Calypsonian if your Government is failing the people of Guyana with all its mineral wealth that the world hungers for check out Red Plastic Bag's song. "When you ready to re-arrange, the Government change". They are responsible to you. In fact all Caribbean Governments must answer to their people so do not let your Goverments turn we the people against each other. We love all uh wunna and come and get a good "wuk up" for our crop over festival. When you reach Grantley Adams airport tell them BajanMan invite all uh wunna!

Peace out!

Hi Reddy
I am not surprised with your behavior u are adhering to instructions. The point is however is the PPP gov't is sowing what they reap. After clensing the public service/civil service of the the professional to make space for there own they are faced with a migration problem.Instead they devise ways and means to improve the situation,as usual, they blame every other country for inforcing their constitutions. The reason is simple since they do not respect their own constitution the same concept they feel should be applied by other countries. How stupid. But that is what u get when u vote race and not for progress.
So guyanese suck it up.what u vote for is that u get

Wiggins:
Who gave your nation Banks Beer?

Which nation gave you Olga Lopes-Seale?

Which country provided Clyde Walcott employment and hospitality in the late fifties and early sixties?

Which nation sent the technical expertise to show you how to recover sugar?

Which nation provided school teachers and head masters to teach your uneducated?

Which nation gave you the mother of Rihanna?

Which international Barbadian singer consider Bajans to be the most envious people on earth and therefore limit her time in that country? Hint her mother is Guyanese and her name begins with an "R".

For all the good Guyana has done for Barbados, you repaid us with Burnham, a descendant of bajans. Thank you.

The government of Barbados does not have the right to treat Guyanese with indignity. You can enforce all your laws but do it in a humane way. Now my two questions:

How many non-Caricom nationals have been subjected to the fascist tactics of early morning raids?

How many non-Caricom nationals have been subjected to removal from buses and the streets of Barbados?

I look forward to an answer.

Thank you bajegal.I took GT Woman's advice and took advantage of our FREE education, including UWI. One thing I have noticed about Guyanese woman is they are very jealous of Bajan women. We do not need to sleep with men to own a house or car. Guyanese women come here looking for a man to provide for them while we work hard for our homes. We sacrifice and pay mortgages and car loans while supporting children. We do all this while they are busy waiting hand and foot on the Bajan men we dumped. DO you know why Bajan men marry Guyanese women? Because they allow themselves to be disrespected.
