I hear what you saying, and you know what. I AGREE that if the people are suffering he gov’t have to do what is the best interest ofthe people to make things better. If nuff nuff Brazilians coming to Guyana and making a mint, it IS in the best interest of Guyana to form strategic partnerships and trade alliances with them to capitalise off the success of what is happening naturally.

If Guyana is allowing Brazilians to come and make money and send it out of Guyana just so just so, that is a missed opportunity.

WE ARE acting within our best interest in the policy towards illegal immigrants. It’s not not about LEGAL Immigrants. All LEGAL immigrants are, and have been welcome since the beginning.

I am seeing it with my own two eyes, but I still cannot BELIEVE that people really demanding that while THEIR LAND is their own to do (…or, in Guyana’s case: NOT DO!!…) what they like with, but YOUR LAND is somehow ALSO theirs to spawn over, break laws that they find “inconvenient,” and EXPECT – nay, DEMAND that NO ONE SAYS WORD-ONE TO THEM!!

Hmmmm….the closest scenario I can recall to this TYPE of behaviour is KINDERGARTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THING called CARICOM, should be scrapped.move the office to TRINIDAD and let there be only two members TRINIDAD and BARBADOS.Guyana and GUYANESE will be best served by integrating

Guyanese must stand up to the Jagdeo Administration you Mr. Thompson you cannot help keep the pressure on and up.

Most Caricom Leaders put themself first and the people last. Guyana is an example.

U so full of it it is not funny. Super power? You watching too much cartoons!! You bet your %%$ we are proud of our island and will continue to do so. You don’t know the struggles the average bajans have every day but that does not take away the pride we have in our island or ourselves. We believe that we deserve to live out out days in peace and comfort without having to trip over or be pushed off the island. I love my caribbean brothers and sisters and have had the pleasure of visiting and experiencing the hospitality of many other caribbean nations but there is no place like home and if you all can’t have that love for your country I am sorry but I do and will not apologize for wanting to see my island turn into a different landscape.

lady are you fa real ? I live right here in this beautiful island called Barbados and where are u? How u know all the Guyanese work? Barbados is small and has lots of native bajans to support we love all nationalities and treat people fair and with respect but when people come here and try to change our way of life why should we stand for it. I am backing my PM 200% and if he backs down I will not vote for his party again. Grab them when you can and kindly ask them to leave. You take a risk being an illegal immigrant. My cousin who was in the US for over eight years (working) was recently taken to court over immigration matters she did not have a fake passport or a fake stamp. Time and immigration simply caught up to her. she was given her day in court and now is a resident. Plenty Guyanese are here living legally and living well we have no problem with someone trying to mek a dolla but we do have a problem with people telling us what is best for our island. Grow up folkes!!

Caricom ministers to be blamed.
I remember after alligations of a rigged elections the pressure that caricom prime ministers put on MR Hoyte to sign the accords in St Lucia and Guyana. Now the PPP are doing share crap with the country and nobody saying anything instead Mr Thompson have his officers rounding up people and treating persons in a very inhumane manner.
The auditor Generals report(guyana) came out the otherday with a whole bunch of irregularities and no body saying a single thing.

BP I and many others in my area here know of 3 make shift homes set up illegally on land designated for commercial use and without proper sanitary facilities. Whether the many occupants are illegal or not, we do not know, but it is not within us to set the Ministry of Health or The Town and Country Planning on them. That is not how we operate,a far different cry from you.
But be careful that for every Bajan you rat on in Canada, that in return far more of you compatriots are also ratted on.

Could you imagine that the journalist attending this press conference were supposed to be all professionals, yet one was so ill informed as to question the PM about a plane load of Guyanese that were shipped back to Guyana.
Before he went to that conference he should have blogged that info on this site. I am sure that one of the blogger living in Barbados would have been telling us , that is true as he either was involved in cleaning the plane or refuelling it.
In actual fact that plane load of people who the Barbados Goverment was returning back to their homeland at our expense ,were all GHANIANS.

Web, Bajans and others who went to British Guiana were not undocumented. BG was British Colony,and we all down here in the West Indies held the same Mick mouse British Passports,entitling us to free travel between Brit colonies.Prior to gaining independance,St Lucians, Dominicans, Vincentians and many others used to come to Barbados plying their trades, alighting from the schooners at the Wharf or Careenage with not even a single policeman of official checking them in anyway. This was the Colonial way.Noting unique to any one British Colony.

Brandon I get the same impression here and I bet Jagdeo wont pick up. Thompson is “code speaking” when he talks about “structured readmission”. “Code speaking” is a term salespersons use to refer to that situation.

It’s like trying to sell a woman personal items and she tells you she has to talk to her husband first. She’s simply saying “Go to hell”.

BORAPORK,at this juncture to make it an offence to emloy illegals or to rent accommodation to illegals would be most inhumane.Immediately we will have a lot of unemployed, hungry, destitute and homeless people on the streets,including children.

On his return from Guyana PM Thompson should make some amendments to the recent immigration policy.
(a) Scrap the term Amnesty.
(b) Notify all undocumented Caricom immigrants that they have from the 1st of September to 30 November to set their houses in order. ie dispose of possessions, arrange shipping,close bank accounts etc.etc
(3)Exit Barbados no later than by 1 December 2009.
(4)Those undocumented immigrants who believe that they are qualified for permanent status in Barbados,should apply to be regularised from their home country.

Quite a sober observation of the political mess thats plaguing Guyana currently, Jim-Bob. Race based and partisan politics will always stand-out in such a diverse culture as ours (it’s in our genes). We have tried everything humanly possible to co-exist over the years, or have we ? In the end racism still seems to find a way to rear its ugly head. Shall we dare try separation, now this is just a thought given the ‘family-feud’ situation! Only then we can honestly say that we have indeed tried EVERYTHING.
