In the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act which Jagdeo has stood as a roadblock to, I do reveal that I am a Guyanese, proud of my country and proud of the nation to which I do belong but sorely disappointed at all the leaders we have had so far--and I do understand where you Bajans are coming from...

...and in so doing I invite Barbadians, (my great-great-grand mother was a Bajan) to the warmth of the Guyanese embrace.

Love my people, please! If the tables were ever turned, as they were before, we would welcome and love you as our own.

We, unfortunately, and sometimes to our own detriment, have a memory that would overcome those of a dog, snake and a whale combined with RAM's left over.

All ironies, juxtapositions and puns intended!

For over 40 years many Guyanese have moved to Barbados. When Walter Rodney was killed thousands more came to Barbados. They came, started families and integrated into Barbadian society. However in the last 10 years there has been an influx of a different type of person. These illegal Guyanese are loud, obnoxious and crass. They openly cursed Bajans and Barbados everywhere they went.
They congregated in public areas drinking while loudly proclaiming that no one could do them anything. Every week thousands flocked to Barbados by telling immigration officers they were here on vacation. This problem was exacerbated by a Government which seemed intent on creating the same racial voting division that exists in Guyana today.
For many years most Barbadians had no problem with Guyanese or other caricom nationals as long as they behaved themselves. However in the last few years some of these non nationals have been intent on disrupting Barbadian society. some have even declared they will "take over" Barbados.
This new Government recognizes the issues our small society is facing. We CANNOT allow anyone to disrupt our way of life. Caricom nationals are welcome but we will not tolerate antisocial disruptive behaviour.

Bajan Pride,

You, Thompson and the bunch received more "sweets" by working the Guyanese for nothing and treating them horribly. Why do you think the ones who are legal will leave in peace?

Listen and read: SEND THE DAMN GUYANESE HOME. Can you all comprehend? Why are you all droning on this? What did I say before?

We cannot change your haughtiness and insensitivity. You all will blow your steam and hot air and when all has subsided, you will all find out where you are. Time, my friend, time........

It is very sad that very few Guyanese made the 'roads' in the Caribbean 'rough' for genuine Guyanese.
When I was in the region teaching - I came to realized how much GUYANA was /is contributing to the Caribbean and beyond through health and education. These group of professionals' 'workpermits' were/are given by the ministry of health and education.
If there are so many illegal people working in small island as Barbados or else where for cheaper labour - immigration is definitely questionable.
Employers who employ illegals should have been made to face/answer to the 'law' firstly.
The point here is that Guyana/Guyanese has/have been generalized due to certain catogaries of 'skills'/labourers - such as construction 'hands' among others.
It is said that things happen for a reason. Perhaps this situation is there to measure how long more the Caribbean people have to wait to see the realization of the so-called Caricom? When will they freely visit their 'brothers and sisters' without being discriminated against because they are Guyanese, Barbadians, St. Lucians, Antiguans etc, tec. Life on earth is too short behave narrow mindedly - forgetting where our roots lay.
We are behaving as if we all do not like cricket. We are the 'West Indians'. We forgot brother Bob's words - "One love - let's get together...."
Further we are all part of the wider human world - as Great late MJ voiced - "We Are The World".

I do believe that every country has the right to dictate their immigration policy. I also believe in CARICOM and the vision of the elder statesmen of the region who formed it. It is time for us to see that we are all victims of the divide and conquer strategy, that is imposed on several nations and regions. We need a united Caribbean that will be capable of presenting a unified front in Politics, Education, Finance, Agriculture, Technology etc. to the world. Should it matter which country produce the Doctors, Teachers, Engineers, Nurses, Lawyers, Technicians, etc. I don't think so. what should matter is that the region benefits from their production by keeping them in the region. Each nation has a place in this region's future and a vital role to play in it's development. We need to stop for a moment and focus on not only the root causes, of the present bad blood amongst nations, and believe me they are many, but start recommending viable alternatives and solutions to a Caribbean problem, that is, the lack of gainful employment in the region. We take issue at a few menial tasks and miss the fact that there is a huge brain drain from the Caribbean to the Developed Nations. Migration is a fact of life. People from the Caribbean are in every developed nation on the earth and we are there mainly because of economics. As economics change, so will migration change, but a united region should be our desire and our focus. Guyana has made several blunders in the past, the Bauxite, Sugar, Rice, Timber, Gold, Diamond, Agriculture, and other industries have failed or are failing. Prospect of an oil payday is still in the talking stage. There is very little manufacturing being done in the region. Folks, we have a lot to be concerned about and to work towards developing or redeveloping, so after our resentments are cooled, let us find a way to make all our leaders accountable for the office they hold and pray that our region does not implode over the inevitable. Migration is a fact of life we must all deal with it. To repeat a West Indian phrase (today for you and tomorrow for me). We can only redeem the time tomorrow, if we start preparing for it today.

Jagdeo and the PPP have to accept that after 17 years who would have guessed that we would be at this juncture still having Guyanese fleeing the land in search of better opportunities and accepting any mistreatment meted out to them because it was still better than being in Guyana.

Where is all the great promise that the PPP had for Guyana?

Where are all the investments and this rush of prosperity that was supposed to have been bestowed upon us with the grace of the great PPP and Jagdeo?

The ppp is a failure, Guyanese need to accept that and we need to move on. No one can solve this for us not America, not Canada, not the Brits and definitely not Barbados, We Guyanese have to accept responsibility that we elected a hopeless, vision less group with zero ideas and innovation to get us out of the quandary we find ourselves in today.

The youth of this country needs to lead the way and show the PPP and the PHENC that we will not accept their nonsense anymore. Next contestant!

Small islands small minds. I visited this island once for a vacation on my way back to West Palm Beach, and stayed at the St Georges' hotel.Nothing special here, but just like any other tourist dependent island in a wide open sea.Guyanese should use these places as stepping stones.I would not live here for free.

As usual.. all this bad talk, but people does still come to Barbados time and time again!
Must be something draw them... hmm....

Now, if the person were deported and could never come and visit again, there would be some sensational story in SN right away. LOL

Sanderson, here's the problem, man.

Deported means you CANNOT come back to Barbados ever!

Most of the people who were repatriated were sent home for overstaying and CAN return to Barbados after a certain amount of time and must comply with staying the time they have been given.

Deported means you have committed crimes and have been determined unable to continue living in Barbados.

Other repatriated individuals will have the opportunity to return at a later date provided they comply with all of the laws. Why mark these people as deported simply because Guyana and SN have problems with definitions?

Patriotic Guyanese, if you found the smallness of Barbados claustrophobic, imagine how Bajans feel with thousands of Guyanese and others coming in and taking up space. Guyanese keep talking about the possibilities and probabilities of things happening in Guyana. I and many other Bajans look forward to the day when those possibilities and probabilities become reality. You have to do more than talk. You have to take action. Barbados has not peaked. We are educated, innovative people. There will always be something new and different going on in Barbados. Regarding your comment about inherent racism, historically and to this day, Guyanese have killed and continue to kill each other over race. You know Guyanese vote along racial lines. Finally, all of the islands provide legal luminaries, nurses, and teachers.
