A Roraima Airways plane, transporting six passengers, yesterday morning skidded off a wet airstrip in Essequibo but no one was hurt. The nose of the aircraft was damaged.

A release from the police said that the incident occurred at 9:15 am at Fair View in the vicinity of the Kurupukari Crossing, Essequibo River.

Owner of the airline, Captain Gerry Gouveia, told Stabroek News that the incident occurred because of the wet airstrip.

He added that another aircraft was sent in and has since flown the passengers and pilot to the city.
