Freed murder accused Ashanti Shultz filed a suit against the government in the High Court yesterday for $200 million dollars in damages saying that she was maliciously prosecuted.
Shultz also known as `Blondie’ approached the court through a battery of lawyers led by attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes. She is also seeking damages for false imprisonment from the period September 16, 2007 to July 2, 2009.
Justice William Ramlal directed the jury in Shultz’s trial to return a unanimous verdict of not guilty following no-case submissions by Hughes on Thursday. The judge, in his ruling, had pointed out that no evidence was presented in court to show that Shultz was guilty.
Nero, a 58-year-old hospital porter was fatally wounded in an incident where it was reported that Schultz and other women were involved in an argument.

Looks like she is ignorant of the O.J.Simpson saga,he won in the criminal court but lost in the civil court. She should thank GOD for walking free and try to change her life style.
The prosecution has failed to establish prima facie evidence to support their case and consequently, the learned judge directed the jury to return a not guilty verdict. The prosecution must always examine the weight of their evidence before a charge is instituted. If they fail to do their home work (as this case appears to be so), then they will continually be castigated by the court. I am not too sure where Ashanti Schultz stands with her law suit but time will be the better judge.
that is the way to go!
this govt riding the country and ppl cannot protest
lets see if guyana is a democracy which they claim
we need more ppl to sue the govt for damages to electrical appliances, house burn down, water, damage to vehicles and ppl by poorly done road ways andbridge, importing japanese reject causing a lot of deaths,un necessary expenditure, fraud,no justice, etc etc

She was just lucky to get off, now she wants 200 mil, this woman looks like she never work a day in her life now she wants to goverment to pay, you should be so glad that you are not in jail, get a life.
What did I say that was so wrong in my blog for you to chop it up??
This lady will soon be back in the news………..
Thats all I will say for now………..
This woman have the nerve to sue the gov , she should be thankfull that the police did a bad job in presenting their case , and surpressing evedence she should be in jail right now, or on second thoughts it could be because of her conections and her conection closeness with the gov that she got off , lets see where this lead to what the police will do next a life was lost are they just going to let this one go the way of many more hope not like a lot of other people I will be looking to see what will come of this story if anything.
Has any of you detractors given some thought that she may be totally innocent of the charges, yet has been incarcerated for nearly two years. She has every right to sue, wish more innocents would shake up the system and bring to the front the incompetence of law enforcement that is prevalent in Guyana.
This woman should be thanking god for getting her an charge for murder ,she express no remerse for the victim ,but but now the want the state to pay her .after the police mess up the case, you have belly madam
THE SAD THING IS THAT IF SHE WINS, THE TAX PAYERS WILL HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL.BUT THAT’S THE PRICE FOR HIRING RETARDS FOR THE POLICE FORCE. IT’S SHAMEFUL.
THIS SERVES THE POWERS THAT BE RIGHT. REMEMBER NOW THIS WOMAN AT ONETIME COULD DO NO WRONG WHILE THIS SAME GOVERNMENT WAS IN POWER SO DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS.
