The proprietor of Rishma’s Fashion, a clothing store located in the City Mall was last evening admitted to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) in a critical condition after being chopped several times about her body by a man who attempted to rob her.
According to reports reaching Stabroek News, some time before 5 pm yesterday, 25-year-old Dhanwantie Phulchand was alone in her store when a former employee of hers walked in and demanded cash and items. She refused and the man began chopping her about the body.
When this newspaper visited the City Mall yesterday afternoon, blood was splattered across the floor of the boutique.
Meanwhile, other store owners said that the suspect is a known character and had previously attacked another person at the mall.
Officials at the mall placed paper across the glass to prevent persons from peering into the store, especially the decent-sized crowd which had gathered outside the store.
At the hospital, relatives of the injured woman remained tense and worried as she was being attended by doctors.
“Oh God just spare she life fuh we,” one relative said repeatedly.

If a shopping mall is what this place is,then where is the security?the owners of the mall are responible for the security of their tenants.Wish the lady a speedy recovery.
Hope she recover how sad be carefull who you hire to work with you .
this is sad but the paper states that he was a former employee so i wonder if she had owe him any money, and he came to collect and they ended up in a arguement.
Arm the business people in Guyana, give them guns. These criminals have to know that they have some sort of opposition to contend with when commiting crime. Give gun permits to businesses and mandate that they go to shooting classes to maintain the permits, and guns means any size and any calibre gun, not caps guns.
agree with you, no cap guna. lol.
SAME THING EVERY DAY!! NO END IN SIGHT!! PAINFUL AND SAD!!
