The new Guyana Marketing Corporation recently acquired a $4.9M refrigerated truck to transport produce from farms to processing facilities.

This move further underscores notional efforts to boost the non-traditional crop sector, a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said. The truck will transport produce from farms to the packaging, storing and processing facility and then to the point of exportation.

“A small service fee will be charged,” for maintaining the vehicle, GINA said, though this service will also be highly subsidised. It said too the vehicle was purchased from JAC Automobile of China and handed over to the GMC on Wednesday.
