you are so right…. their most famous saying”I own the police” not this time. Guyanese are so spoilt that when they go to other people’s country and the law is enforced on them they cannot handle it, they can do their own thing in Guyana and get away with it. Break the law, do your time. Laws are made to be obeyed, not broken.Where you went lady wasn’t Guyana, they sent you back, that’s it.

I remember my daughter and me traveling to Barbados on vacation when we had to make a stop in Trinidad before continuing our journey. The Trinidad immigration had this procedure where they would search bags at random before you get back on the plane. My bag was chosen to be searched. I entertained the office as he checked through my personal belongings…to whom I said, since I took my time to iron and fold my clothes so neatly, you will fix them back the way you found them. Who told me to say that? He started to threaten me that I should not talk to him that way because he can make me not get on the flight. I said to him I believe in freedom of speech and if you are rummaging through my clothes, I am asking you to fix it back the way you found it. To make a long story short, when he asked me for my passport and I showed it to him and he saw that it was an American passport, he was much more humbled.

Commando, perhaps that is the procedure .My child was born in the UK came back here as a baby.We went on a trip overseas,when she was 9/10 years old. When we got back to Barbados she was given a 14 days stay by immigration, no questions asked.

Reader Commando you are as misinformed as one who never travelled.If your wife as you claim is a Guyanese,and she is traveling on an unexpired Guyanese passport, no immigration officer will ask how long are you staying here.You should further eduate yourself to know at least something sensible about what you are writing, before you write anything.

Guyanese should be a Guyanese first, and not trying to big-up other peoples’ countries. Guyana is 42 times the size of Jamaica, Guyanese should start demanding land from our government, because that is our right. If your gov’t cannot perform do not vote them in next time.

My wife travelled to Guyana with our daughter, my wife is the holder of a Guyana passport, she is born Guyanese, our child is not, the immigration officer is gonna ask my wife how long she come to spend in Guyana. What a joke!!

Troubling indeed to hear this . The thing the Trinis are waiting for is to see that U overstayed the last time . Bingo , they got u and they will treat u like a dog.

It is interesting that although the treatment her daughter received in Guyana was worse than she received in Trinidad, the mother directs her complaints more at Trinidad and hardly complains about her daughter’s treatment in Guyana. She even wants to remain anonymous. It appears that the people in Guyana have a deep fear of speaking out against any government action that might have violated their rights.
