The Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) will be meeting residents of Santa Rosa in the Moruka district on Saturday, July 11.
In a press release the PCA said Chairman Cecil Kennard will receive complaints from the public at the Administration Building from 10am.
This is the chairman’s first visit to the area, therefore the CPA urges the public to attend as he aims to sensitise citizens about the existence and the role of the Authority.
According to the release Kennard has already visited several rural areas including Linden, Port Kaituma and Lethem. Plans are in train for visits to Bartica, New Amsterdam, Mabaruma, Anna Regina and Wakenaam.

Mr. Kennard all i hear is you are taking complaints and no action is taken. What good is the Police Complaints Authority when Policemen are not brought to justice, we need an independent body to investigate members of the armed forces, not the armed forces to investigate itself.
RDMAN,,, You are not update of what is taking place in Guyana, you are like Alice in Wonderland, I can tell you that this department is functioning to its best under Mr Kennard,,,ask SN to give you the facts and figure of disceplined policemen…
Is this another joy ride? nothing usually comes out from these investigations
The abscond soldier if i am like Alice in wonder land you definitely got to be Humpty Dumpty that’s sitting on a wall,Stabroeknews doesn’t have to give me facts and figures, any monkey you talk to in Guyana can tell you about corruption and brutality from members of the police force. The kaieteur and Stabroeknews have well documented this, remember those guys that were beaten and tortured by members of the force with marks of voilence on their body, you are trying to flag a dead horse soldier. You spend a long time in the USA. Come betta next time man.
I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend this meeting. However, SN please inform him that in order for the police to be more effective they would need a vehicle in there. Currently the police are just sitting there and doing nothing waiting for something to happen. They need to do alot more patrols. There is no proper communication at the Police Station and incase of emergency it would take a long time to find a police personal cell number. I would suggest that the GPF at least purchase some cell phone for the officers & the number could be placed on the Police station where people can see it & store it in their phone.I must commend Digicel for installing a tower in there which really boost communication in there. Illegal drugs such as Marijuana etc. seems to be infesting the community and the police needs to do more of their ground work. Persons who are suspected of dealing with Marijuana are the ones who will be close to the police. Moruca is one of the most peaceful Amerindian community in Guyana and individuals will soon want to take advantage of that community and should this happen they would be waking up Ants nest.
