Borapork , Guyana needs to say whether it has a South American destination or a Caribbean one . Remember that when the other Caricom states , along with the Dominican Republic signed the EPA , President Jagdeo refused to sign with them . He was busy criticising the Regional Negotiating Machinery (RNM), he subsequently went to Europe and signed . Guyana don’t seems to be able to rid the country of the drug lords and the traffickers of illegal drugs . Illegal drugs are exported from Guyana to Europe , including the UK , Canada , USA and other Caribbean states . Large quantities of cocaine have been arriving in Barbados from Guyana with guyanese “business men” involved at both ends . At present , Guyana is a comfort zone for criminals and corrupt public officials and guyanese continue to flee their homeland . Ramkarran should deal with the crime which is destroying Guyana .

let them start by changing the constitution, each MP must be elected by the people and not their party.

The present government is all for integration of Caricom but must be held suspect based on the historical record. Jagan and the P.P.P. wanted nothing to do with the West Indian Federation. Guyana’s membership in this organisation could have watered down its Indian support base and I wonder if this recent embrace is not the result of its beggar status.

Is the president on another trip that Sam Hinds is representing him? Is he ever in Guyana for a prolonged period to solve its problems? I would like to see a table that compares his time in residence versus his frolicking around the globe for this year.

What foolishness is the Speaker talking about ‘enlivening of regional MPs group’? In Guyana, MPs are selected by the party they represent and are stripped of independent thinking and voting. Parliament is jostling the judiciary for the title of the most mundane and august body in the country. Speaker Ramkarran is actually showing us his thinking here as a potential President and it doesn’t look good, because there is no attempt by the PPP to enliven its own MPs, let alone MPs from other parties. When last did MPs go on a meet-the-people tour? Do the people know who their area MPs are? What a big farce.
