An Oronoque, Port Kaituma man was refused bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with rape.
Shyndell Proffith, 28, of Oronoque, Port Kaituma North West District (Region One) was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

It is alleged that on July 11 at Oronoque, Port Kaituma, Proffith had carnal knowledge of a 29-year-old woman.
Proffith, a pork-knocker, told the court that he is currently supporting three families.

Reports are that on the date in question the accused forced his way into the victim’s home and beat her with a cutlass before committing the said offence.

The magistrate refused Proffith bail. He next appears at the Mathew’s Ridge Magistrate’s Court on August 4.

  1. BORAPORK CANADA says:

In Guyanese parlance, supporting three homes means you are involved with three women at the same time. He had time and energy to be accused of the rape of another?

  2. Yondell Proffit UNITED STATES says:

it quite depressing to hear disgusting comments labelling an innocent young man, who was alledgedly accused of an act, as a rapists. I had the understanding that in law, its innocent until proven guilty. Who are u Mr.Borapork or whatever your name is to pass judgement?.Do u know him?. Do u even live here?. i would suggest that Stabroek News, Channel 65 and other malicious media operatives to get their facts straight. Gone are the days when reporters(sorry journalists) are called upon to write hearsay. Accuracy is of utmost importance. This young man’s character and life depends on it.
