The Ministry of Health on Brickdam was completely destroyed by a fire of unknown origin in the wee hours of this morning.

Minister of Health Dr Leslie Ramsammy, at a press conference a short while ago, said the police have told him that arson was suspected based on the evidence they had found so far. More later…

My goodness. I know they had it in for the minister. But this is taking it too far.

Who is this ‘they’ you’re talking about here? Is it the slo fyah mo fyah people or this an attempt to destroy potential evidence that could link the Health Ministry to Roger Khan in the spy equiment matter. I could be wrong but I strongly suspect there is growing political heat behind this fire.

    • Dandy Andy UNITED STATES says:

Like I asked “NotFromGt’ above, who is this ‘they’ you’re talking about? And what burning of record are you talking about?

Anyway, you have aroused my curiosity about records, and I am now wondering whether the Health Ministry received loans or grants for specific projects and the money was spent but cannot be accounted for, hence the destruction of the building. The Health Ministry was one of the government bodies that came under scrutiny by teh Attorney-General for questionable spending of money and violating the procurement procedure that saw the New GPC receiving hundreds of millions of dollars for medical supplies without having to bid for the project. This may not be as anti-government as many are thinking!

    • Oldmudhead UNITED STATES says:

Govt need to protect these buildings better. What could start a fire at 3 am? This is a waste of resources and delays further progress in this area. An investigation is needed on how this could happen and do better next time

    • Indian BARBADOS says:

This fire will not destroy evidence of any alleged connections between Roger Khan and the Minister of Health. Let us hope that the serious issues which face the Guyanese public will not be covered by the flood of propaganda about this fire. This seems more like one out of the bag of old PPP tricks and not “MO FIYA”.

sh,i think it’s more like singing in america

    • RodRick (Dis is one bias newspaper) UNITED STATES says:

      Sandhurst,
Lots of birds “singing in America” and Guyana too but some folks are hearing impaired; or, they can only hear a certain frequency to these calls. From the looks of it, the recent heat wave in Guyana have them up and about…their call….MO FIYA!!!, SLOW FIYA!!!.

    • Satish UNITED KINGDOM says:

It is you taxpayers, SandHurst who will have to pay for rebuilding government structures burnt down like this.

      RodRick,
You’re are so out of it and out of touch that your warped, convoluted sense of logic, and that’s if you can call it logic anyhow, leaves me speechless. And trust me, I’m not one to be rendered speechless easily.

    • RodRick (Dis is one bias newspaper) UNITED STATES says:

MO FIYA, SLOW FIYA!!!! SLOW FIYA, MO FIYA!!!!…I guess robbing and killing people with AKs don’t work anymore to create a state that’s ungovernable. Arson seems to be the new thing of the day.
      06Malaika,
Please decide what country’s soil your feet are touching before using terms like logic or warped; don’t strain your brain with exaggeration.

  10. decanadianCarlVeecock CANADA says:

Always suspicious when a government building burns down:

    1. there is permanent security around the building

    2. the movements of everyone entering and leaving are monitored

    3. the earliest indication of a fire is acted upon to limit the
    spread

    4. yet none of the security and monitoring helps!

Who burn it down and why?

And BTW… how many government offices suffered fires since this
    government came into power?

    • winifred CANADA says:

Hi Carol Veecock, how is your sister Junnie? Just an old classmate saying , hi!
