The Guyana Post Office Corporation says that it has recently been receiving “broached items” from the United States of America.

According to a press release from the Corporation, “this has been the case on a number of occasions although the mailed items are received in sealed mail bags.”
The release stated that “information relating to this recent development has been communicated to the United States Postal Administration for them to conduct investigations into these occurrences.”

Members of the public are urged to take note of this development and are encouraged “to advise their relatives and friends to be cognizant of this phenomenon when posting mail to Guyana.”
The Guyana Post Office Corporation, meanwhile, remains committed “to preserving the integrity of the mail and are therefore doing everything possible to carry out this mandate”, the release said.

The Post Master ever asked himself why mail sent from the US to other countries are not broached? The mail is being broached in Guyana. Wake up sir and have your men photograph the mail as it is taken off the plane. Also, no one should be in the back of the truck with the mail bags on the way from the airport.

Well, Well, Well, I was getting ready to pen a letter asking for it to be published regarding my broached package. Only yesterday my daughter encountered this problem. I sent her a new blackberry flip last week, costing over $300.00, insured and by expressed mail. All my daughter received was the manual, the phone and everything else was gone. The strange thing about this case, was that when my daughter contacted GPO, and spoke to the person in charged and threatened to go on TV about this theft, she was told she doesn’t have to do that and that they will contact her. She asked how are they going to contact her if they don’t have her telephone number, he then asked for her it..

NOW, if this is case where packages are coming from the USA broached, why did they not shared this information with my daughter, so that whatever suspicion she was having towards GPO staff would be lightened? I don’t believe that package came broached from USA, but was broached there in Guyana. However, I have filed a report with USPS and they have started an investigation. I don’t believe GPO for one second.

Impossible. Mail is being broached in Guyana, at the receiving end as it is transported to the GPO.This has been a constant practice in Guyana.
