Let me categorically state that more than a few Barbadians are in Canada illegially and planning to stay. If they hate illigalism so much, why are they practicing it themselves? One such barbadian that I know even had the gall to bad talk Guyanaese immigrants in Barbadoes that the Bajan resources are going to educate the Guyanese immigrant children, whilst in the meantime, she is sucking Canada’s resources her self.

Immigration in Barbados is kept busy all the time processing paperwork from people from all over the world who want to move to Barbados. We reject some applications and remove and deport some people, but people still keep coming. Thousands of Guyanese still live in Bim. Thousands of Guyanese will continue to live in Bim, because they say life in Bim, even as illegal aliens, is better than life in Guyana. The fact that so many people want to live in Barbados is an indication of our success.

This article from SN is really longwinded worthless and space could have been better utilized. As for SLUG response, i can verify that senior management did not allow staff who worked in what was considered as lower jobs to eat in the general lunch room. I worked in Guyana for three years and the company instructed them to use a different lunch room which was situated in the yard. Only after this was drawn to management overseas, was the situation rectified and everyone was allowed to use the lunch room in the office. However, even after this, there was still resisted opposistion from senior Guyanese management.

Throughout this whole debate/discussion, much invective has been levelled by Guyanese towards Barbados and Barbadians but the truth is that Guyanese are their own worst enemies. There is a severe amount of Guyanese on Guyanese violence here in Barbados and it is Guyanese who are “ratting-out” other Guyanese to immigration and police here in Barbados..we frequently hear Guyanese asking other Guyanese what they come here to Barbados for. While some Barbadians may feel so, generally Barbadians do not feel as threatened by the presence of Guyanese as do Guyanese feel towards other Guyanese. This is very eveident by how Guyanese treat each other in Guyana…I have seen this first hand having lived and worked in Guyana for four years..the warehouse or yard staff were treated appallingly by the Guyanese Assistant Manager even to the point where they were banned from using the company’s kitchen or coming into the office. Surely, Guyanese could make an effort tostop condemning each other and their country before vilifying others.

A more meaningful statistic would have been
‘ how many Guyanese have recently returned fro Bajan land?’

It is easy to get such stats:
1. from the landuing slips [how long have you been abroad?]
2. from the ONE WAY TICKETS ISSUED

Some with cash would have opted to leave voluntarily, but that
would have been ‘ a deportation stat’, for they left ‘under
deportation threats’

That 53 figure is far from reality IMHO

Your long article is just a rehashing of old news as there is no dramatic reporting on raids and people being deported to report so as to raise your sales and readership… Poor!

This is my analysis as a GT born person living legally in Barbados, who has talked to many Guyanese here on this subject-
.
1. This is just the lull before the storm come January1, 2009 when Guyanese would be rounded up and deported if they do not have valid permission to be here. The amnesty ends on December 1, but the “action” will not really start until January.
2. Guyanese who are here illegally are packing up and leaving for home quietly. Others are planning to do so by the end of November.
3. Some have applied for “extensions of stay” … some given three months even though they are here illegally so that they can get their business in order.
4. The early morning raids and deporting has served their purpose to make Guyanese and other illegal immigrants aware that this Government is serious about deporting all illegal immigrants. Guyanese are surely over 50% of the illegal immigrants.
5. It is true that there is a lessening of fear of morning raids and being deported, but Guyanese and others know that this is only because of Cropover and the a Amnesty. After the Amnesty is over they know that they are in big trouble, no matter how hard they may try to hide.

Guyanese have to go back to Guyana if they are in the country illegally and apply to return on work permits if they qualify. The new rules of Managed Immigration” will be applied stringently, and that is a reality. Live with it or suffer the consequences!

Barbados may be nothing to you but thousands of your countrymen do not share your opinion. Many of them have said that they have no intention of leaving Barbados. Even though their salaries are way higher than anything they will get in Guyana most of them like Barbados for the easy access to social services and it is relatively crime free. They are free to open businesses with the fear of being constantly attacked and robbed. They can get on public transportation without being attacked and killed. Public events are mostly incident free and when violence does occur the police department is there fairly quickly.Doctors, schools, churches everything a society needs to operate efficiently,is easily accessed.
Most Caribbean nationals think Bajans are foolish because we are so placid and do not usually react violently to situations. We have our way of fixing situations and many FORMER politicians can attest to that. While Guyanese and others are busy killing each other and fire bombing buildings we take care of business at the ballot box.

Yawn. This article is a compilation of multiple articles you have published over the last few weeks. As Reddy would say, it is stale news and a non story. I am sorry, but there is no drama pertaining to Guyanese going on in Barbados at the moment. Bajans are talking mostly about cricket and the crop over festival. You could have used the space you used for this rehashing of old news to write something positive about Guyana, so that we who are not Guyanese won’t think there is nothing but death and mayhem going on in Guyana.
