The main opposition PNCR has organized a protest today, to call for an investigation by Interpol into the administration’s dealings with regards to the cocaine connections following revelations in a New York court.
The Party’s Co-Chair, Volda Lawrence said that the participants would assemble at the intersection of Mandela Avenue and Joseph Pollydore Street at 9:30am today before moving off. The march will end with a rally at the Parade Ground, she told Stabroek News.
The party had protested in front of Parliament Buildings on Thursday after walking out, while the National Assembly was in session. Party MPs had walked out after Leader Robert Corbin was unable to raise as a matter of urgent public importance, the issue of links between the government and drug trafficker Roger Khan, revelations which were made in an on-going trial in a US court.
Corbin led an exodus of the Party’s MPs after the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ralph Ramkarran disallowed his application for an urgent debate on the recent testimony of Selwyn Vaughn in a New York Court, where it was alleged that Khan had ties to a government minister. Corbin, in a letter to the Speaker, also sought to have the Assembly approve a move calling for Interpol to be invited to probe the allegations.
Alliance For Change (AFC) MPs had earlier decided not to even enter the Chambers and had said that there is a crisis of governance.
AFC’s Chairman, Khemraj Ramjattan has called for a full inquiry by in independent international tribunal into the allegations.

corbin hope you hold a placard demanding the probe into the death of innocent children.
dumb….you don’t read at all. The Police killed all the suspects in the murder of the innocent Children as well as everyone connected to Minister Sawh’s Murder. Was’t that the justice you wanted? I’ll advise you to join the New York Protest and Hold a placard for the murders of innocent Children in from of UN this week. I replied to one of your comment before about Vaughn who worked for Roger Khan putting Fineman up in a house for days. Isn’t clear that from Vaughn’s testimony that Fineman at sometime worked for Khan. Had we not kill all those criminals we would be in a beter position of solving those murders.
Freespeech you dont want justice you’re all about politics. SHame on you.
freespeech that is not a problem like you dotish or what
fineman is a friend of your hero roger khan, he was place
in a safe house in agricola untill the phantom needed him
to do their dirty work, also let them investigate sash sawh
murder too,ehehehe
Freespeech which planet are you living on?
pepie,
tell me again, where is this case being tried? Wasn’t RK captured primarily because he was “conspiring to import cocaine” So what does all of this cock and bull story about supposed murders that were committed in a Guyana have to do with the drug charges laid against him in America? Again, only a Dumb man would believe everything Vaughn says. If were gonna talk about murders in Guyana
at that time lets talk about ALL including those committed by the
Buxton based gang.
You’re saying “had we not kill all those criminals we would be in a better position of solving those murders” You have no clue of what you’re talking about. How do you tell a Bandit armed with an AK to drop his weapon and come along easily? Are you forgetting how these “innocent suspects were waging war on the GPF. What happened to Officer Mark Frasier? His case is only one example.
How can you be so sure that the police killed “all the suspects”
do you have a check list for these killers? Now, about the remainder of those Missing AK-47s, who was them? Its a pity I can’t answer that one for you on this blog but I hope you don’t forget the damage done by these killing instruments.
People have a right to remind others about the killings of Innocent Children because some of you often act like these murders never happened or those lives don’t count.
This person freespeech should have his say. When you all ramble your anti government sentiments you are quickly supported by praises for your rambling. When someone dissents with something that is anti PNC everyone attacks him/her. This forum has always been more anti government as the newspaper itself. Look at the nonsense that pepie and turbo wrote, I don’t know where you people come out with these garbage; I believe it is the product of an overactive imagination. And while the PNC and Corbin will be holding plack cards, I wonder if he will be holding one demanding justice for the victims of the Lusignan massacre and other atrocities that followed the defeat of the PNC after the 1992,1997 and 2001 pools. While most of the naive and foolish theorist in this blog speculate and spin garbage without fact, I would remind them to look and read back their history and it is a guide for the future.
Rodrick…Do not worry your life away my friend, you are on the winning side ,everyone of these blogs on this site know the practises of the PNCR and now the AFC, they can call for whatever the want (Interpol, sinterpol) and they can protest as long as they want, if they do not make reasonable requests the Government will never heed them, if the break the law in the process of their protests they will face the full force of the law, that is all…let them make the first jump…I hope SN post my comment so that everyone can realize that the Government is not failing from any probe or investigation but the call must be reasonable and fairly…
Pepie,,,isn’t it clear from Vaughn’s testimony that Waddel was involved with the criminal gangs of Buxton… Why now the PNCR is labelling him as a talk show host???? He is a criminal…What else is not clear with you direct your questions to me…The doubts are left with Vaughn and the US authorities..
Freespeech,RK only got mad with fineman when Axel Williams was taken out…..fineman turned…….
Old wounds are being opened,we are all very familiar with the saying “LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE”the dutch says “ÿou are hauling a dead cow out of a drain”We should stick to the ISSUE and what is related to it.
Hey RodRick,
The case is being tried in the US. Yes RK was arrested for “Primarily” conspiring to import cocaine, this was the principal charge but he was also slapped with other charges such as running/heading a criminal enterprise. I hope you know what that charge means.lololol.
Let’s talk about Buxton; I lived in Buxton between 2001 – 2006. Where were you during this time? If you were living in the States during this period then your information might be all hearsay. When was the last time you went home? I visit every 6 months. I am more informed about what’s happening on the ground than you are and don’t bluff nobody.
You can ask and get armed criminals to surrender regardless of what weapons they have. Many law enforcement agencies around world achieve this daily. To give and example, Blackie surrender hours after being in a gun battle between him and the Joint Service. His squadie, I think, asked him to surrender and he did and was later shot by members GPF. lololol.
The death of Leon Frasier – not Mark, is unsolved and there is a lot of mysteries surround his death. SN will not allow me to give you the Spite-press reports.
I am not sure the Police killed all the suspects and you may have and edge here but I am sure the police kill all the persons they claimed are “suspects”. When someone becomes a suspect for any crime it is done on the determination of the police and not the general public. So when I said, all the suspects are dead, I am RIGHT.
Sorry I have no knowledge of AK47s but I did hear a “NANCY STORY” along time ago that a truck was passing through Buxton loaded with guns and a call was made and the truck was robbed of the weapons. Dem boy seh dis story nah gat merit but some seh dem wonder if de story binna true weh de guns binna guh.
And I don’t know who in their right mind would say the killings of those 11 people on the ECD never happened and I am sure that’s the only killing you know of. I know what you are getting to so let me help you. An EI Man from Annadale was kidnapped and killed at the back of Buxton, A little EI child was killed when Bandits shot through the floor of her house, two elderly EI people was Killed while passing through Buxton and several other EIs were killed.
I must agree with you that these murders should be remembered and talk about and you have a right to raised them but not in the manner you’re doing it. To many including me it seems you are bent on raising racial tensions and I say this because 12 persons died in Bartica but you don’t care about them and 9 person died one night on the EBD but you don’t care about that so I hope you achieve your objectives.
I think I address all the questions.
It’s about time guyanese start taking to the street in protesting the govt on their nefarious links to the roger khan and his phantom squad.
put RK for president and i bet you he will get more votes that pnc.
Why is the PNC calling for interpol to intervene when they shipped out the late Gregory Smith to French Guiana on a Seafoods trawler with a new identity and all the necessary documents to become a French citizen by the name of Cyril Johnson.
You party hacks are pathetic. You’re like Burnham fever people, only this time around it’s Jagdeo’s fever.
Burnham’s people Jagdeo’s people, what’s the difference. Same MO anyway, follow the party into the pits of hell.
Don’t you get it “gap1″! “Burnham’s Fever” People are now “Obama’s Fever People”; and, for Guyana it (the Revolutionary Fever) started in circa 1763 perhaps. So, it is not about Burnham!
“Jobs-Baby-Jobs”!
WHO IS OUT DOING WHO, THE peehencee or afeecee, they love the line, line line line.
more demonstration in the line, burnham leave them in line looking for food and they love it so much they must find some thing to be in the line, one day afeecee the next the peehencee.
KEEP IT UP GUYS< dont miss the line.
Freespeech, people like you keep Guyana underdeveloped and in turmoil. You run and live in the USA and spew NONSENSE from afar under far better conditions than in Guyana.
Burnham died 24 years ago. The PPP ruling for 17 and counting. During the 20 years of Burnham the food shortage and fuel crisis was during the 1980s global recession. The USA had problems too. Go look up history and Jimmy Carter’s speeches. See newspapers articles of long fuel lines, high unemployment, increased homelessness increased, and hunger in the USA.
But if it makes you feel good that Burnham was all bad, remember people protested against him. The main fighters were the WPA, trade unions and African middle class. Remember who burned the canes too!
Guyana is pure horrors now. People have a right to protest and it is foolhardy of Guyanese to not want to when their conditions are not improving. The islands cannot hold everyone and will not tolerate breaking immigration laws. People will be deported or removed. The islands cannot solve the problems of Guyana, Guyanese have to solve it themselves. So, Go PNC, the Trio (Lewis, Benschop and Witter), Freddie Kissoon, the AFC and ALL Guyanese to who want to put an end to the PPP horrors. Guyana belongs to you too.
Ignore Freespeech. He’s in the USA living comfortable on the struggles of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others.
freespeech you are so hooked on the past.Cant you see its blind men like you that fuel the injustices of the ppp.Look man Guyana needs cleansing from you,the ppp and all whose vision of progress is crime, drugs and coruption. And shake off the past and live the 21st century the usa needs you.
He who laughs last, laughs the best.
The only group of people unable to see through the guise of this administration would have to be the mentally challenged.
Re: “burnham leave them in line looking for food and they love it so much they must find some thing to be in the line, one day afeecee the next the peehencee.”
Is it that your “sardines mentality” (when there were tilipia, snapper, cat-fish, hassars, plantains, sweet potato, cassava, yams, bora, pumpkin, squash….) still making you full of yourself???
I feeling the same way too amenra. In all this the people are going to laugh last. It is so amasing to see how all the accussed are all dead. They should have been alive to face the court and tell the truth about what transpired and who were thir handlers. It is my opinion that the Government would not want that.
Amen ra
Bricks can’t laugh…
Yo analyst,
It looks like you use to the scrape scraps out of Burnham’s pot bottom that’s why you don’t remember the food shortage; What was it, “tilipia, snapper, cat-fish, hassars, plantains, sweet potato, cassava, yams, bora, pumpkin, squash” ???
Food hamper lines ring a bell? How about mothers lining up all day in the Hot sun to get a pound or two of Powdered Milk for their babies…
Next time you go to Guyana take a walk to one of the supermarkets man, look around… enjoy the A/C… then ask your self, why would any dictator, I mean leader, want to keep good, wholesome food like these out of its people’s mouth for 28 years.
Freespeech, take a BREAK and read up on the laws of the Geneva Convention and other civil and political rights.
They say “RodRick (Dis is one bias newspaper)”! “Where ignorance lying and cheating…) is bliss it is folly to be wise”; and, it did not take a rocket scientist to determine that (in addition to the internal sabotage through the burning of the sugar canes fields, strikes…..) the late L. F. S. Burnham’s Administration came under economic pressure external sources. To come to think about it – how about asking the current PPP Administration how much they received in the “begging bowl” after the visits to the Middle East (when the Burnham Administration was blessed with millions of dollars to combat the economic pressures forced upon it.
If ya country is doing so………. well now (than is was doing under the Burnham Administration), ya supermarket shelves are so full with affordable priced commodities for the average Guyanese household – then why ya going about begging and having ya people being treated like third class citizens by neighboring Caribbean countries namely – Barbados!
This should read: “the late L. F. S. Burnham’s Administration came under economic pressure (from) external sources….”
Keep the pressure up guys! Justice must be served, one of your MPs died in the process in fact he was a Minister of the said party.
No Government should be allowed to flout the laws of the country, ,engage in corruption and remain in power. That is not accepted in the developed world.
People Of Guyana you must put away your differences especially my Indian brothers and sisters we have been affected too, remember the slaughters, this was never Dr.Jagan’s dream.
Najbar,
here is none in this administration who could touch Dr. jagan’s shoes, much less wear them.
One thing is sure, had he been alive, and still the president of Guyana there would be no talk about ministers and drug dealers in bed.
Vote for him, or oppose him, but at the end of the day you must admit that he had the interest of our country at heart.
He has to be rolling over in his grave at what they have done to his legacy
Well said! The current administration has done nothing but create criminal gangs and an atmosphere of suspicion an distrust. The security forces have been systematically infiltrated to do the dirty work of the administration and the drug dealing network. They have destroyed the dream of past Presidents and Burnham,Hoyte and CheddiJagan. Regardless of what the critics may say these men loved their country and did what they felt was best at that time.
Turn up the heat and act like you are the descendants of a once proud nation. Guyanese do not accept criminality and this government must be made aware of that fact. Those who do not support this fight for the return to legality and good governance are enablers and must be ostracized for their conduct. See them for what they are. They are co-conspirators in our suffering. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.
The fight should also be on the “economic front”; and, as an example – Why should Guyanese traveling to and from North America have to doll out $1,500US for a return flight that would cost people traveling similar distances (passenger miles) throughout North America very little? Just Google and check out the low fares for yourselves and see just what is being talked about here and you get the point.
What you mean by “return to legality”?This government was legaly and democraticly elected and a lot of people are urging others to remove this government by undemocratic means.A government removed undemocraticaly are then replaced by undemocratic forces .
Keep the protest, never let up. Guyana needs a healing as soon as possible.
PNC and AFC can do better by working together with the government for bettering the life of the ordinary Guyanese, but the like typical politicoans who are there for a paycheck only, just spout hot air and oppose everything that government try to do. Washington DC is a typical example.
How can this administration bring better to Guyana, they who are playing hosts of drug dealers and murderers? Many who are deemed progressive and peaceful are being sheltered until objective intelligence unveil the true activities. There must be no let up in this protests. The PPPC has brought shame and disgrace to Guyana, its people and most of all it has caused insults to its founder leader CBJ who must be weeping now. This administration has lost whatever moral standing it acquired from the efforts of former President Cheddi and must go now!
The Minister of Health of all persons should be supporting this protest to demand an investigation in the RK saga because right now, twist it and turn it, his name has already been tarnished; only a thorough investigation will truely reveal his innocence as he claims.
That cartoon in last Sunday’s Stabroek is a true image of what Mr. Ramsammy may become if there is no investigation… The PPP won’t come to his rescue and support him, they’ll just wish him good luck.
If the PPP didn’t see if fit to investigate the Sawh killing and get to the bottom of it, (one of their own minister) what makes you think they give a damn about the health minister?
As last Sunday’s Stabroek editorial pointed out they are a number of possibilities that could have implicated the minister but right now it’s a guessing game and speculation and the only a true investigation by an independent body would reveal who did what and when. So the people of this country should definintyl demand an investgation into the whole issue.
It is important to note that civil minded Guyanese do not get involve in protest actions, it is just a handful who are bent on destruction and distracting the Government’s attention from the MOH fire may turn up,,,The fire probe is heading straight into their direction…This is all the support the PNC has now,,,They are brobably protesting the US Government for not completing the case quickly because the Guy. Gov. made it specifically clear that they are awaiting word from the US authorities when the matter is concluded in the US to provide the evidence so that an investigation can be launched…News paper reports and anti-Gov. media reporters can produce no credible evidence for Parlimnet to call for any investigations…Shame on you Mr Corbin,,,You want to be militant now that your leadership is being challenged by your own members….
soldier why can’t people protest peacefully? it happen in
the usa,iran,iraq,china
Why didn’t the PNC condemmed the JS for not doing enough to curb the Freedumb fighters’ murder of innocent children and families during the latter’s terror reign in 2002 – 2005? Why didn’t the PNC protest against the JS members that were in cohoots with the freedumb fighters? Wasn’t it PNC members or supporters who labeled these guys freedumb fighters, thus encouraging their quest to drive fear into citizens and govt with a view to destablising the govt? RK did what the JS could not, or did not want to do. The JS and their supporters did not uphold their legitimate obligation to keep the nation safe. There was no hope for the govt and Indians on the ECD. What’s the talk about cocaine govt? Corbin, it’s been proven over and over again that you would do anything and everything to get into power. Accusing the govt of being a cocaine govt is the lowest of low…or maybe not…
and who’s name is being called in the simels case, and who’s govt allowed spy equipment into guyana?
dude because the freedump fighters were not the pnc friends
they were all connected to roger khan, the phantom control guyana from 2002 to present.
What could the PNC have done why all the fingers are pointing back at the PPP government. You people are very bitter.
Dude,… in essence what you are saying is that the Police and the Army failed the citizens of this country and the PPP government refused to let us the citizens know that they were incapable of protecting us? isn’t that what you are truely attesting to?
Now in such a senario, i called it that because what you just said is fictional, the PPP should have informed members of parliament about such a developed and collectively the legislative branch could have work inco. with the executive to find a meaningful solution to the crime situation. They could have all agree that we need external help and i could assure you that no MP would have said no. Doesn’t this form of approach would have shown responsibilty on the part of the Government.
Mr. Corbin went to Minister Sawh’s funeral and was treated badly – watch the tape. On numberous occassions he offered his condolence to the grieving families and there were numerous opportunites for the President to work with the Opposition Leader and opposition parties on the security front but it was politics as usually.
This Government failed all of us and Corbin as opposition leader should have been more vocal on the current situation. In the end it was President Jagdeo responsibilty to protect us all. He had all the resources available to him. Listen to Uncle Barack, he inherit a failing economy and took steps to fix it. He’s on tape saying if anything happens blame him, it s his responbility. Ahhh doesn’t that sounds like a real President.
Stop blaming the opposition parties and accept where the real problem lies. This PPP Government had know reason what soever to enlist the services of Roger Khan and his Gang as Roger Khan claims.
Dude then jagdeo must be the lowest of low for he accused the AFC of dealing wid cocaine traffickers and he still cannot show one shred of evidence to support his garbage talk.
