But Guyanese need to stop deflecting failure and get this government to start accepting responsibilities.

The more Guyanese wake up and realize that making the govt accountable will develop guyana further we are going to make progress.

Covering up for the PPP, PHENC, AFC is a waste of time.

Interesting thing is that that old Second World War Vessel used to be captained by a GNS personnel – Captain Benn- (might be related to the minister – LOL).

Again mighty Cassava saved lives as it did when LFSB banned the wheat flour.

Pear and Cassava Bread – should be added to the national dish.

I hope the ‘91 Hinterland PJs’ ( who just sworned in ) made note of this incident and inform their BIG Tuochou at the State House to used the President ‘grant’ to buy a new vessel.

I personally met Yasser Arafat at the Kuwaiti Embassy in an asian country and was surprised at his retinue of bodyguards and other followers. He was given millions of dollars to create better living conditions in Palestine. He travelled around with millions in cash, his wife Suha lives in a Paris Luxury Condo and has a very big allowance. He had a special assistant who handled the money. Just goes to show that many leaders are interested in their own nests .

I also offered the govt. the free use of a modern oil rig that had finished its job in the North Sea. The Maureen oil rig was owned by Phillips Petroleum and was to be decommissioned at a cost of several hundreds of millions sterling.www.oilrig-photos.com/picture/number95.asp Instead of incurring such money I was asked to contact the govt and offer them at NO COST. MAUREEN TO BE BROUGHT TO GUYANA FREE. I made several copies of the document and gave to Sam Hinds, N. Chandarpal. I never heard from the govt. Beggars are choosers. My connections also had CATSCAN equipment offered to me free . The MAUREEN would have been available to CGX to do its work. After these receptions I have no interest in returning to Guyana.

Thirty years ago as a little girl,when I travelled from Morawhanna to Georgetown, it was the most unbearable experence. Could not imagine that people are experiencing that same “torture”.This clearly shows that the Government has done little or nothing for those who frequent that destination.

the US Govt has plenty vessels in ‘mothball’ that can be obtained…..the Lannaballi…a former submarine tender tug…was converted into a survey vessel….it did one rescue of a disabled oceangoing tug off the coast….and the payment received covered all costs assocciated with obtaining the vessel…..i understand…..lack of maintenance caused the Govt to get rid of the Lannaballi…..

way back in 1976 when i first traveled to kimbia gns centre on the mv kimbia as a ug student, the condition of this vessel was already experiencing bouts of decay, now 33yrs later it would boggle the mind to think what these people went through on this floating desaster which has already expired as a sea worthy vessel, this visionless govt seems to act only when desaster strikes.

These ferries in Guyana are not sea-worthy, they are not adquately supplied and the sanitary conditions aboard these vessels are hazardous to the passengers health.The captain should be fired for putting the passengers lives at risk,I think that he wanted to show his bosses that he could make the voyage limping along on one engine,what else could it be? when turning back was the safest option and Shipwreck don’t tell me that he was taking orders because he was the master of the vessel,if operating a vessel like that is standard procedure in Guyana then the Government will be responsible for the tragedy that is waiting to happen.

This is total nonsense, the ferry to Adventure is the same thing you see the Government system is so top heavy that no one looks down they see filth, bad customer service, and under maintained things as a norm, in their sight it isnt strange, in this country we are still livving in a socialist state but in a way where its not plain sighted, after elections the government acts as tho its their country they dont want to hear the views of the people after the next 5 years, if we continue to vote race and face we will always left behind we would never be able to enjoy true governance and be treated like humans, we will always be kicked out of other countries because we will always be fleeing, persons need to vote based on the performance of a party, we have been trapped in political slavery for decades which prevents us with vast nautral resources to move ahead, its sick what this government do, but we the people need to determine what we want, if we continue we will always be on the back burner we will never rise, right now the entire caribbean have us down in the gutters, there is no respect even if we are going on a true vacation, rise Guyana we can do it !!
