The Government Information Agency (GINA) has accused employees of the Kaieteur News of impersonating its employees in an effort to gain information, a claim vehemently denied by the newspaper’s Editor Adam Harris.

“It never happened,” he said when contacted on Monday over a statement issued by GINA, which in a statement said that Kaieteur News reporters have been impersonating its Communication Officers. GINA condemned the action, saying it goes against the principles of journalism. As a result, GINA advised that its officers are easily identifiable by way of an official badge issued by the agency.

It also advised the public if they encounter any attempts to impersonate GINA employees to inform the agency.

Meanwhile, Harris said he believed that the accusation stems from his newspaper’s investigations into contracts, since it felt that some of the costs were exorbitant. He said the incident being referred to is a visit by two of his reporters to West Coast Demerara.

He said he challenged the persons making the claim since the reporters referred to, Mondale Smith and Fareeza Haniff, both wore their identification badges. “Neither of them would think of impersonating GINA. Who in their right mind would go on the streets to represent GINA?” he queried.

Morning everyone. It’s possible that the reporters could only get a welcolm from the interviewees if they posed as GINA people. Such is the sensationalist reputation of KN in most of its reporting. Read their stories: many lack sources, people named and cast in bad light are not called to give their side of the story and the language is convulated and confusing. Some editorials are poorly writen and lack logic. The front page is invariably splashed with photos of vehicle accidents and dead people and rape and murder stories.
This is pandering to the baser instincts of people and is not good.Management’s aim is to make as much money by selling as much papers (getting more ads). It does not uplift or educate people to continue to build an even better Guyana.
SN hasn’t completely gone that way but is getting close. Such yellow tabloid National Inquirer type of journalism always has to be critcised . That is why too it is necessary for state run entities like GINA to put things in proper perspective and offer guidance . Even the US, Canada and the UK where many Guyanese born people reside live, have them…

GINA is another SHAM organization Burnhame created to skew the facts and replace independent news services like reuters and the associated press.

Of course the unholy PPP couldn’t resist instead of getting rid of the PHENC propaganda junk they renamed GNA to GINA and continue to use it to try and brainwash the population.

This govt is bankrupt of ideas they have no vision.
