According to police sources, ranks rushed to the area in search of the corpse but to no avail. However this newspaper learnt late yesterday that several persons were taken to the Vigilance Police Station for questioning into the man’s disappearance.

Sources in the community told Stabroek News that it was just after 5 yesterday afternoon when two van loads of servicemen went into the area and started to dig. The process lasted for about an hour after which a few youths in the community were apprehended and taken away.

The 66-year-old man went missing since June 12 following a visit to a family home in Buxton.

Jobronewet also known as Romie Johnston of California along with a number of relatives had travelled to Guyana to pay their final respects to their mother, Vivian Henrietta Brown also known as ‘Ne Ne’ and ‘Sister Henny’, who died in Canada and whose remains were flown to Guyana. She was laid to rest in her home village of Buxton.

This poor man came to an unfortunate end. Kwame went home to bury his mother “dead”. Motilall went to bury his brother “dead”. There’s a message in these two events for overseas based Guyanese. I’m not returning to bury anyone or have a little vacation. The stress is too unbearable.

BP…I agree with you. This is really scary, my poor mother wants to go back to Guyana if she dies here. Is this what I have to look forward to? I would like to grant her, her wish, but I now have to think twice. These people think you are going back with millions, especially at a vulnerable time like that.

Goldie tell your Mom where she goes to rest is not important.’
She will meet the Almighty, where ever she is buried,
regardless of cemetary, or religion .
      The Lord is everywhere.
      God bless her.
I am a muslim, when my time comes , I just want to go in the ground. Where! it does’nt matter to me.
      My Allah is everywhere.
I will be causing emotional damage on my family as I depart, they don’t need other problems, I will be buried where ever I am at that time.

goldie you better convince her not to be buried in guyana

Goldie: My mother passed away in July 2007 and I made the conscious but heartrending decision not to attend her funeral because of the crime situation and fear for my safety. I assisted in financial ways and told them to send me a D.V.D. Now I view it whenever I feel nostalgic. No water, no electricity, riding a minibus with people smelling like ram goats, most looking for a handout. I am staring to feel depressed.

Listen to you people you all was born in guyana, live, and now you all have the nerves to talk about your own country like that SHAME ON YOU ALL. Guyana is a very nice place my family and myself went for a month recently and it was a wonderful trip.Very rear you will find an American citizens disappear in guyana there is more to this story, i know these people very well and something does not add up. SN mentioned that this man was a little senile so who knows what happened when he left buxton, people just do not target overseas base like that in guyana believe me. As for that other case with the indian man that got murder this is family problems just read the story and draw your conclusions, most of the time some leaves America and go to guyana and something happens to them it is someone they know or a family members.

Goldie I do not think its a wise idea to waste time and money on burying your mom in guyana. My mom passed away in 2005,Two years later I went tovisit the grave and it was all onder water and that is more sad than putting them down in the earth.
BoraPork,Mr DEAD don’t give us any notice, when he is READY he is READY.hAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT? I am wondering if Guyana is worst now than the time between ‘02 and ‘06? I have visited three times during that period and never noticed anything except the ones that were called BLACK CLOTHES….But then again the Canje district hardly has a problem…or I am always LUCKY to be there when things seems to be normal. I would have never known that my beloved country was in such a MESS if it wasn’t for online news.
That the PPP has become so CORRUPT is just UNBELIEVABLE,KIND GENEROUS AND HOSPITABLE people have transformed into MONSTERS is simply HEARTBREAKING. I do not want to go back home until I am convinsed that the CRIME is reduced and the Security forces can be trusted.
