Wow, that’s a great story. Really glad I found it.
I feel compelled to post a link to Jeannie’s story — she recounts her feelings upon being asked to volunteer at a job and how it made her start to feel whole again after she lost her sight.

Maybe, we can donate a piece of equipment for the Skills training, or help set up a Non Profit Fund – transparently and accountably managed, by individually pooling one hundred Guyana dollars (G100.00 about US.50 cents), weekly, into it, to help members of the community ‘fish’ for themselves by setting up their own micro or medium business.

I THINK THE GREATER MORAL OF THE STORY, is not’ PRES. JAGDEO’S ACTION… it is Mr. Archibald’s and his family”s desire and determination to rise above adversity.. it is GOD helps those who help themselves theory” put into practice; ( not those who help themselves to other peoples property of course); ..it is a story that flies in the face of those WHO wring their hands; then sit on them; and blame others for their pathetic, status in life.. it is for those who spend their days venting bile at everyone else,.. while sinking lower than every one else… and of course the losers among us, who’s vocal thrust,. always crave the lazyness of affirmative action…. gtbeat ! Cut the crap . Did the President respond to his citizens because he is the President or , because he understands the needs of the poor and downtrodden ? There is still hope for Guyana.
We talk about crimes and justice….some bloggers thinks Canada and US is better….watch out…it’s gettin worst by the hour.Everyone remember the guyanese family with the son Ravi, who was stabbed just a block from home…guess what his killer will only serve 8 months more in jail and he will be a Free man again….and he will go kill again…so, we talking about injustice? it’s everywhere. Alot of bloggers says ignorance makes Guyanese ppl. do stupid things, so what about the folks here…most of them have a college degree.Almost every week a school is in lockdown here because some crack head gone wild with guns…

GtBeat,,, there are hundreds of story like these in Guyana and hundreds of people that get help everyday from Government but none of these story are highlighted by these opposition parties (Media houses)… They are bent on showing the bad side of Guyana and will go in the darkest night to get info on a murder or robbery…When you see SN publish a story like this then I think there will be a break in the weather pattern…

I agree with you and I applaud the President for taking this huge step to help his disabled citizens. Guyana has massive resources for people to take advantage of such as growing food and marketing them. This is one of the few Guyanese who are taking advantage of what resources is available. If a blind man can do it then others with full vision can too. Every little bit helps. Way to go Mr. Jagdeo.

I must commend mark for what he’s doing and being independent, also the president did what he’s getting paid to do and that is to take care of the needy, and have social services in place for others, the army should’ve provided for this man his benefits that is due to him, the president comes to the rescue and everyone heaping praises, good political milage.

After reading all the brutality and killing and all the depressing news in Guyana today, I had to seek a little brevity anywhere I can find it. Look at this story, it is a really funny one. Seriously now, how can a blind man do all what this report says that dis blind man did. Leh we look at de tings dis blind man does still do even though e blind.
1. De man build a fence around his yard – how e know weh he yard end and weh e neighbor yard begin… yea yea I know dat e had e son helpin he.
2. Clean de yard? How e do duh? Pon e hands and knees?
3. Plant and reap vegetables… hmmm! ah gi e dat one.
4. De man is a plumber? Come on! Suh you gone tell me dat he running pipe from de mains to e house by e self right? Uh Huh! I guess dat e got pipe dat does bend it self and solder and seal itself right. Uh Huh!
5. Climb coconut trees and pick coconuts??? Dat one is a stretch! Climbing back down has to be interesting.
6. My personal favorite: Playing cricket!!! How e know which direction de ball coming from. If de whole team blind how de wicket keeper keeping? How de man in slips know which ball is e own? When two or three men after a ball how do they know when the leave the closest man to get the ball? Which blind man catching an air ball?

Congratulations to Mark on his achievements and accomplishments, I wish him and his family all the best. This story brought tears to my eyes because it is so special and has a lot of happy endings, I would also like to thank President Jagdeo for helping out this family and there community. My goodness why don’t the army help there fellow soldier and also isn’t he entitled to a pension? Come on guys play your part here in this story, I guess you guys wanted him to just sit back and feel sorry for himself and because he did not, you are not willing to give him his dues.
