The Islamic Foundation of Toronto Canada on Thursday presented a cheque to the tune of Cdn$1,500 to the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) to aid its orphans and vulnerable children programme.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the organisation, Shaikah Moeen Ulhack, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CIOG in his remarks told media operatives that he is extremely grateful for the assistance received from their Canadian counterparts.

Noting that this is the second contribution in a year, Ulhack said that the donation speaks volumes of the Toronto organisation’s level of commitment towards changing the lives of children.

The CEO who said that the CIOG received Cdn$30,000 last year, pointed out that the money is used for purchasing textbooks, school accessories, paying tuition fees and transportation costs for underprivileged children to aid in their acquisition of a sound primary and secondary education.
Canada-based Guyanese Mr Kayum Khan, representative of the Islamic Foundation of Toronto who handed over the cheque to the CIOG, said that the Toronto branch is pleased to be associated with making such donations that contribute positively to the growth and well-being of children.

He added also that the Toronto Chapter has already made a commitment towards having the donations become an annual feature.

The handing over of the cheque was made at the CIOG’s Woolford Avenue Office in the presence of students and teachers.
