Free cervical cancer screening will be provided later this month through collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Jhpiego and Omni Med, USA with results given immediately and if treatment is needed this would be rendered also. According to a brief release, the screening would be done through the use of Visual Inspection with Acetic (VIA) and the Single Visit Approach during the week of October 12 to 16.
Organisers are asking for women from all areas to dial 643-0360 and 646-1463 and schedule appointments for screening which would be done between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm. While it is preferred that calls are made so schedule appointment, to cut down on waiting time, persons who walk in without appointments would not be turned away.
Screening would be done at the maternity ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital, Campbellville Health Centre and the South Road Health Centre.

THIS IS GOOD AND LONG OVERDUE; ITS TIME THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH THINK OF THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE OUTRAGEOUS COST OF MEDICAL CARE AT THE PRIVATE HOSPITALS. HOPEFULLY EARLY DETECTION WILL PREVENT SOME DEATH LATER ON. KEEP MOVING FORWARD PLEASE BECAUSE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WOMAN IN THIS COUNTRY DESPERATELY NEED. HAVING TO HANG AROUND PUBLIC HOSPITAL FOR 2 DAYS JUST TO SEE A DOCTOR IS NOT AT ALL PLEASANT.
hope all young and mature women take this oppertunity and get themselves screen. this is very good
Attention Guyanese women! Please take advantage of this offer.
This is good but this health Ministry should go to them place that they call religous houses or house of worship or house of wispers and spread the word……they church goers don’t read the daily.
Put this information on the Government TV and have some one explain the importance of this examination to the Guyanese woman and let them understand the the record numbers of women in Guyana who die from cervical cancer just because of late detection.
The education system in this adminstration does not care for the brothers and sisters who leave school early and work in the factories and other industries. They suffer as a result of basic screening.
A simple examination of ones foot, mouth, and other body parts can save our people but poverty is indeed a crime …..it causes one to limit him or herself to the importance of health screening.
Health Pervention is what is important to all Guyanese for a long and healthy living.
Mih na kay wha ayuh seh bout Minister Ramsammy de man is still de best Health Minister we eva had.Come on Ladies make use of this cancer screening and lets move foward building a healthier Guyana.
