The Alliance For Change (AFC) is urging the police to liaise with residents of Alexander Village to devise a strategy “to prevent the influx of mischief makers” from disturbing Diwali observances in the area.
In a press release the AFC said the residents have every right to host observances for the Festival of Lights and such activities should not attract disrespectful crowds. Therefore, the party calls on the authorities to ensure that effective measures are implemented to prevent unruly crowds from engaging in behaviours that detract from the celebrations including the damaging of property and the lighting of fireworks  that frighten animals and disturb the peace.
