President Bharrat Jagdeo has been invited to deliver a keynote address on Guyana’s Low-Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) at Trent University, Canada.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the university’s Center of Knowledge in the Environ-ment invited Jagdeo to give the hour-long address which will be open to the public. The address is set for Wednesday at 5.30pm at the university’s Great Hall, Champlain Coll-ege and is titled “Guyana’s plan to preserve its tropical rainforest and help the world combat climate change.”
GINA said this invitation comes on the heels of engagements that Jagdeo has been attending during his trip to New York to attend the 64th United Nations (UN) General Assembly. The president also gave an address at the World Leadership Forum at Columbia University titled ‘What’s greener than a rainforest? Economic transformation and forest conservation in Guyana.’

You gotta hand it to our president!
He is certainly determined to chase this LCDS issue hoping that the rich countries will deliver ‘EL Doradolike’ windfalls to Guyana.
Then again, I think it was Don Quixote who it was that chaised windmills.
Patience, bhai, patience. Good things come to those who persevere and wait. Let’s revisit this issue same time next year.
The Man is obvioulsly thinking of his career post Presidency, likely angling for some kind of position in some U.N agency as some sort of expert on low carbon issues. Can someone say LCDS Czar.
Yuh mek me smile turn to laughter. I can just imagine Jagdeo on a horse chasing after butterflies on the East Coast. But seriously, this guy is determined and I believe he has no choice given that he has not delivered the goods for Guyana in the last 10 years. In fact, the PPP has not delivered anything Guyanese can scream with joy about.
Anyway, has anyone noticed that this LCDS agenda is being pushed by Jagdeo and no one else from the PPP hierarchy? Do you get the impression that IF there is a new President in 2011 that the PPP will put LCDS on the back burner and sign up to Chavez’s Boolivarian Revolution? The PPP, like Jagdeo, seems just as clueless about what true development requires!
Well listen what else does he have to do? and this is another free trip on the back of the Tax Payer right?
Come on man we are gonna have protesters in that place mekkin mo noise than you can imagine.
You got to get Lewis,Whitter, Benschop and Fredrick Kissoon to join you Samaroo,, I can help you with their tickets,,let me know…
Eh Eh! Samaroo? Is that you with the maple leaf next to you name? You there to see your beloved President speak at the Trent University? Good for you! Don’t forget to get the autograph!
CACKAROO,ah looking out fa you,Boraporke and Basmattie for this protest.Pl no loud speakers or the popo will break up the baby party, and you know the saying”empty barrel makes the most noise” ehh.
Jagdeo confused himself with Leadership Centered Development Strategy (LCDS) and Low-Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS).He should let the Guyanese people know what strategy he intends to put in place to have the 126,000 Guyanese who are living on US$2 per day? This is where he needs to have his degree in Economics work for the working poor instead of trying to shoot a bird in the dark.
Ceasing I came up for the speech wednesday, I went and purchased some organic eggs today.
soldier csingh, witch dr and yasuman71,I would like to hear what you have to say about the jagdeo “influence” statement,we are still waiting for your comments on that article!
Peace prize given without peace .this man is work so hard to promote a greener and healtier world…….local and overseas nationls of guyana cannot see his efforts.guess if he was from another country would have received the NOBEL PRIZE for a Greener World.
jam jugger, are you really serious with that comment? i wonder who you are referring too “obama”. the noble committee does not give a peace prize for achieving peace. if that was the case there would be peace around the world. did arafat and rabin achieve peace when they were awarded the peace prize?. suggestion; read up on the noble charity and get an understanding of how it functions.
Who paying for all these trips for the president and his group ,how many person travel with him on these trips what are the cost of these trips ,president Bharrat Jagdeo will go down in the records book has the most flying president of guyana .On these trips what are the investment have he return with to our country the answer his done why this president cann’t this man stay in our country an deal with our propblem s
guy2000, you are asking questions the President does not care about. He gets $5000 US dollars in subsistence for every trip he makes, according to Kissoon.
The President was INVITED to speak!
Each trip costs the US tax payer anywhere between 25K USD to 60K USD.
Invite or no invite, Jagdoe is living on the backs of the taxpayer and brutally wasting money. The man is never in Guyana.
The “Carbon Footprints” of this “Globe-Trotter”,do not help the Low Carbon Strategy one bit.Tax payers money, should be spent wisely,to rid the infestation of crime in Guyana, rather than going to Canada to tell people, what they already know.
There is more pressing issues at home to sort out. Get your house in order first President Jagdeo. Charity begins at home. Global warming is a serious issue but the bigger countries is not taking it that serious.
The pilot is on another trip. How many days does he spend in Guyana to take care of the nation’s business? This is absurd and downright obscene.
Obscene is an understatement,i just can’t believe how you have an opposition party and they say nothing, this guy (president) just joy rides around the globe, even before he gets back home he is already planning his next trip abroad.I think that he has a large world map on his wall and he throws darts to select a country to visit, before he leaves office he would have visited all the countries in the world, even Afghanistan.
Greetings BORAPORK he will be in your nick of the woods so it’s now your chance to confront him with the question you are asking. The same goes for fellow blogger’s who now reside in Canada.
You Canadians sure are lucky.
A distinguished Guyanese leader Big Jag,you and your ilk could go and protest.
Why not suggest we send Wiggins from Barbados to do this address since he claims Jagdeo is inept…
Guy2000,,,The amount of time Jagdeo few in 10 years is equalivent to 2 years with Desmond Hoyte…
He won’t be close to where I live and my resentment has not risen to the level of expending myself financially to air my objections. This man disregards orders from courts of law and becomes abusive when confronted and cornered. “Moon does run until morning ketch um”. One of these days even his fanatical supporters will see the light. I hope you don’t find yourself a member of this group.
How much is he making for these speaches and where does the money go? This youngman has little time to run the country properly.
When someone recently coined the term “The Flying Beggar”, karate movies come to mind readily.
So the FB is now turning his tricks in Canada.
The president should be met with protest and placards. Canada needs to know President Jagdeo is an elected dictator who suppressed freedom of speech and media, discriminates against groups in society, presides over a criminalise economy.
Ah gon look out fah Borapoke and Basmattie!!!
I hope you Canadian folks are there to picket him like the folks in NY did.
T.Singh i am thinking the same thing. The Canadian folks need to rouse up the people. Antoinne, i agree with you too. The man travels all over talking about Low-Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) as if they are not other issues that are more worth addressing. It seems as if he wants the Low-Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) to be his legacy. He does not stand a chance too much injustices yet to be investigated has happened under his watch. He is going to a fully developed country such as Canada to tell people, what they already know. The next Government that gets elected in Guyana need to have legislation in place for the President and other elected officials to show how these trips are benefiting the nation. If they can’t then tax payers money is not to be used. Let them source the funds needed for trip from another legitimate source but not from the nations coffers nor that of the Guyanese tax payers.
Why not? We are already the laughing stock of North American people. Lets trash our country and elected leaders every chance we get. Let us show our pride!! Lets show the world how narrow-minded Guyansese really are.
Not to worry tsingh the americans are representing up here this week as well we will give im a rude awakening.
