The Alliance For Change (AFC) is urging the public to celebrate the Festival of Lights and to reflect on the message of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
In a press release the party extended best wishes to Hindus and the nation and hopes that they enjoy the beauty of the festival and the traditional lighting of diyas with family and friends.

To my Hindu brothers and sisters I congratulate and wish you a Happy Diwali. It’s great to see a people celebrate holidays that are cultural and religious and not being manipulated for commercial reasons. I am delightfully happy for you but still saddened by the fact that all my links to such observances were deliberately destroyed by a system that has left me sometimes feeling rootless. Guard your precious history for I have lost mine.
YEA THEY ARE ALL LIKE ME….I HAVE NO RELIGION BUT I CELEBRATE EVERYTHING THERE IS……LIKE MY MOST FAVORED TIME OF YEAR-CHRISTMAS-AND PAGWAH–COZ I GET LOTS OF GIFTS AND DONT GIVE IN RETURN..PAGWAH IS CELEBRATED WITH THE GIRLS…EID OR THE OTHER EID TIME I GET LOTS OF HALLAL MEATS AND SWEETS…EHEHEHE….
THEY SAID ITS NOT WHAT YOU GIVE–IS WHAT YOU RECEIVE AND THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS..SO AT CHRISTMAS TIME I-THOUGHT-LOTS…
HAPPY DAWALI MY FRIED POKE….HOPE YUH DIDNT DRINK TOO MUCH YESTERDAY..I DIDNT..BUT TODAY I WILL SHARE A BANKS BEER WITH MY BUDDIES IN CELEBRATION….
Evil:
Take it easy!
On your blogs today you seem to be trivialising and blaspheming this occasion!
BORAPORK, my brother, I hear you. However, and in no way to belittle your feeling, since no doubt you will experience it at its most profound, we all experience rootlessness at varying levels too. And this is exacerbated by the increasing chasm between our people and the tough times we all face. You see, even those of us lucky enough to have maintained roots from the motherland, have lost sight of many things, including our rich moral and philosophical heritage – and even our very humanity at times.
Together, as Guyanese, we must therefore find ourselves – and no doubt it will be long and arduous – but people like you BP, give me hope that I will live to see us embarking on this journey. Thank you my friend.
sorry for you i can remember mine.
BP your comments have touched me. My brother, we have all lost something along the way in this journey of life. Let us compensate for this loss by reaching out to one another in good faith. You are not lost, take my hand.
Happy Diwali and God bless.
Good for you that you can you remember yours freespeech.
Question though – isn’t it a greater transgression when those of us aware of the rich moral and philosophical heritage passed down by our ancestors, turn around and sacrifice it at the alter of narrow political and racial objective?
Thanks for your brief and good advise afc!!!!!
I wonder how Gomatie Singh feels about this wish.
