-owner refusing to help police
Gunmen invaded C&V Caribbean Shipping Limited late Friday afternoon, terrorising staff before escaping with an undisclosed amount of money. But the refusal by the owner of the Lot 110 Laluni Street, Queenstown business to provide details about the attack is stalling the police investigation.
Stabroek News has learnt that the incident occurred some time after 5 pm; the men entered the office and demanded that those present hand over cash. The business was closed yesterday afternoon when this newspaper visited.
Several residents recalled the commotion that went on that afternoon. According to one neighbour, screaming was heard and minutes later he noticed the police outside the business.
He was unaware of the robbery and only knew that something was amiss when he heard screams. Another resident said he saw the police when he looked out and later saw one of the owners arguing with the members of a private security firm. He later commanded the security officials to leave his premises. According to the resident, this is the first time the business was robbed.
A police official yesterday confirmed the robbery but said there were no details available because the persons involved are not speaking to the police.
This newspaper was told that after the owner refused to assist the police officers, they left.

he doesn’t want to co-operate???
What he got to hide?
The gunmen took something that was not supposed to be there. So, he has to be evasive.
What a joke…maybe the owner don’t trust the police…not too many people do!!!
Under the PPP, all types of crimes have quadrupled. Income amongst the working class has fallen as compared to inflation and life expectancy has decreased. Guyana has gone to the dogs and has become the doormat of caricom.
Woman!yuh only ranting an raving bout de PPP all de time an disturbing mih from mih lil ress oh geez stap behaving lik wan bunch ah sour grapes nuh.zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Maybe it’s an inside job, and the bandits are know by the victim.
The owner is a very pratical person he know he is living in Guyana and he don`t have time to waste as a buisnessman, because he knows that this will be unsolved, like the remainder of unsolved crimes amounting in the hundreds, so he know his own will be just another statistics in the G.P.F files as they were unable to solved what happened to their own, good thinking Mr.OWNER.
Touche!
Right On!
You hit the jackpot!
Mr. OWNER will never have this incident solved…because he will refuse to offer bribes and zig zag into other immoral incentives to crack this crime.
Investigation officers, please check on the insurance, there may be some answers there; also he could have been in heavy debt and owed the wrong people — yet another possibility. If it was indeed a random act which is the fear of every businessman and woman today, I do hope they hire security who are armed and properly trained. I often wonder why so many security guards are not armed in Guyana; the killers can easily walk past them and do as they please, if the guards are armed and alert, then at least they would stand a chance.
Hey Dubai Bai,
Pssssttt…let me whisper something in your ears–now I can read your blogs, I’m singing Johnny Nash’s ‘I Can See Clearly Now’.
Thank You.
Great job turning down the british Luncheon and jagdoe. I mean the people of Guyana really ought to thank you guys for the great work you are doing on their behalf, saving their lives, ahhh reforming the security sector with the British who have extensive experience in law enforcement over the decades of refinement, great work guys great work.
Sleep tight prezzo.
LMAO. trust me he is sleeping well. That man seems like he has no worries, and can careless about all that is happening in Guyana lately.
