The US Embassy donated a quantity of dental texts to the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre on Monday.
In a press release the Embassy said the up-to-date dental reference and instructional materials were a gift from dental professionals from the US military and others in private practice. The donation was organised by a team of dentists who served in Guyana during the recently concluded New Horizons Guyana 2009 mission. Military Liaison Officer at the Embassy LTC Melba Hernandez handed over the texts to representative of the Centre Dr Joanes Jean.
During the three-month humanitarian, medical and engineering mission military dental specialists from three US Air Force bases from Texas and Utah provided free dental care to nearly 2000 patients at the Diamond Secondary School. Working on a rotational basis the six dentists and four dental technicians carried our procedures including restorative care, root canals, cleanings, extractions and dental repairs. Team members also conducted six guest lecturers for students and staff at the Centre.
The Embassy said these initiatives are all part of the US government’s ongoing commitment to assist Guyana in the areas of social, economic and medical development.

A nation of mendicants is what the PPP has reduced the Guyanese people.
Always expecting handout in the form of loan write-offs, charity and gratuitous favors.
Gone is the can do spirit and Guyanese pride. Even first class seats on BWIA is expected to be complimentary when these cabals fly.
