In September, a female Guyanese reporter who was working illegally in St. Maarten got caught up in an immigration scandal after a disgruntled newspaper employee called immigration. Now this male Guyanese reporter has made the news for stealing and for a domestic dispute in St. Martin. Guyanese are making a name for themselves in a bad way in St.Maarten/St. Martin.

Here is what a St. Martin newspaper is reporting, “This newspaper understands that the charges revolve around ex-fiancé K.P’s claims that H. often had stolen cash from her wallet and purse and had misused her credit card.”

Guyanese often say they don’t have opportunities in Guyana, but too often when they are offered opportunities in other countries, they self destruct, because they take behavioral characteristics that they developed in Guyana with them to their new homes.

I only brought this up because the deadline for illegal Guyanese immigrants to leave Barbados is fast approaching, and I know some of you will start carrying on again about how “hard working” Guyanese are being treated unfairly in Barbados.

you said of Guyanese, “We made Barbados what it is today, we re-built America’a dying cities, Brooklyn, Queens, Orlando with our Guyaense shops, you know Sybils and so on, so there. There are no Bajan shops in any part of the world, but there are Guyanese shops and restautants from New York to LA and points in bewtween, and all your Cheffette’s in Barbados now selling roti and dhal puri made by Guyanese.” The spelling errors are yours.

I am anxiously waiting for Guyanese to say, “We rebuilt Guyana.”

    • bajegal UNITED STATES says:

      Onelove,

You said, “Bajegal,a bajan man rip me off $4000 us here,he’s a mechanic by trade and had a honda accord for sale,i bought the car from him only to find out it was a stolen car where he changes the vin #.Bagan thief and croocked too.”

I was ripped off by a Jamaican mechanic in the U.S. who sold me a car with a bad transmission that died minutes after I drove it out of his yard, lol. I am aware that some Bajans are dishonest like every other group.

I mess with Guyanese because Guyanese are the only ones who cause problems for Bajans right now. People from all over the world are deported from Barbados on a regular basis, but do you ever see stories about any other group of people but Guyanese keeping noise and intentionally trying to stir up bad publicity for Bajans? When Americans, Canadians, Europeans and other Caricom nationals are deported they quietly get on planes and go home and you don’t hear a peep out of them, but many Guyanese keep noise. They know they are doing wrong but still want to fight you.

P.S. I read on a St. Martin newspaper website that Mr. Holder allegedly made some disparaging comments about the people of St. Martin in a very public way. I stress the word allegedly.

well well any way we guyanese go we get in trouble sometimes we commit the crime and sometimes we don’t but we still get in the hot water..we are cursed anyway we go in this world…is it because we are too friendly????or people just hate the country???..or the stigma that is going on in the country????? is it the gov’t????we are all peace loving people with a few bad ones….and as the saying goes one spoil herring spoil the whole barrel that what happen….i am not defending mr holder…i am not saying he did or did not…i am just being open minded to all my fellow guanese who suffer some way or the other….

  3. dubaiciti UNITED STATES says:

What exactly is he charged with stealing? The article did not say, it did however mention a domestic dispute between him and his girlfriend. If he was physically or verbally abusing her, then he should be held responsible. Perhaps this has been going on for sometime and she finally got fed up thereby causing her to file the complaint. Why is it that Guyanese people (and so many other west indians) have to take their bad behavior where they go? No wonder so many countries don’t even want us to visit and they send so many back to Guyana. This makes us all look bad.

    • caribbean woman NETHERLANDS ANTILLES says:

Mr. Holder is charged with credit card fraud… to the tune of 5000 US dollars. He also owes other people who are now coming forward and he also owes the bank.
Unfortunately, Mr. Holder was also involved in the situation with the guyanese reporter who was deported. He was the one who invited her to the island to work knowing that it was illegal but he felt that he was above the law. HOlder is very arrogant and has written numerous negative things about the people of the island that he is depending on for his livelihood. My thing is that if St. Maarten is soo bad, go home.
Now I will not join some in generalizing because there are good and bad from each country. Unfortunately, the best of Guyana do not generally come to St. Maarten.
Mr. Holder is the assistant editor of the paper and used it as his mouth piece to fight his personal battles.
I would not be surprised if he is not fired as there are many complaints about him in the short time that he has been on the island. Mr. Holder should be deported back to Guyana because I am tired of people like him giving hard working Guyanese a bad name. Mr. Holder writes under the name Professor Ed when he blogs. I do not know his fiance but I do know him and I am not surprised as he was living above his means… trying to get rich quick. So I wish him luck cause he might not have a job for long and as such may be deported.

I’m a female, constantly cusses out abuses, always sticks up 4 women who r abused.

These two accusers needs to be charged, this is a hell of a decent man, I don’t have to explain how I know this.

A downright set up, these two joined together to tarnish this man’s name.

I hope proper investigation/s are carried through.

    • decanadianCarlVeecock CANADA says:

Tal Cherry gal ! Talk! Ah want fuh know!

I agree that this a “downright set up”.

You full well know that when woman get vex, is nuff nuff
trouble. Looks like love gone astray.

I sorry for he …got ot spend time in jail. Hopefully not
a place as bad as G/T Brickdam !

    • caribbean woman NETHERLANDS ANTILLES says:

      Cherry,

You may know him but have you been around to see what he has been doing while on St. Maarten.

agree that he is innocent until proven guilty but guess what, he has been reaching out to people to help him pay back the money. No one has assisted him thus far.
Why pay back something you did not take?
So you thought you knew him.
I am not ignoring that their dispute may not have lead to the ex-fiance filing the complaint……but they release you if the charges are unfounded. He has been in jail for for over two weeks already and is still in jail to this date. According to the prosecutor, he may not be prosecuted if he repays the money.. ….$5000 US dollars that is.
So i am sorry to burst your bubble.
And yes proper investigations are going on. He has an attorney and not even the Guyanese Association on St. Maarten is helping him…. if is looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
Maybe you should send him the money to pay it back and then advise him to return home where he will be welcomed with open arms.

  7. slimsuave ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA says:

bajegal, how do you know whether or not it’s not a vindictive move by Mr. Holder’s ‘X’ to tarnish his good character since he allegedly ended the affairs with her. These things do happen when relationships go sour. Some people go at lengths to discredit the other party in the name of vengence. A mere allegation is not proof that someone is guilty of the alleged crime. There is more in the mortar than the pissel. On the flip side of the coin however, some Guyanese do embarass us by continuing to tarnish the name of the land they represent through their skulduggery/unlawful and wicked acts. Human nature can be real twisted at times.

    • caribbean woman NETHERLANDS ANTILLES says:

It could be vindictiveness and I agree with that. But his good character is in Guyana….not in St. Maarten.
St. Maarten is small and Alex tried to be a big fish in a small pond. The sad thing is that it is not just is ex-fiance who is coming forward. I know that a Jamaica man also came forward that he owes him and has been ducking him for a while.
I understand that one would want to defend their fellow country man but you guys are not on the island. When his sister died, we got together and gave him money to assist.. he told us he was travelling for the funeral. He never did and could not tell us what he did with the money we gave him to help to bury his sister back in Guyana. That was a red flag for me. I know him personally as well and I really hope that he pays it back so that he is not prosecuted… but I think he needs to be deported back to Guyana… we have had enough of him and his negativity.

  8. Nat Griffith UNITED STATES says:

Why is it that so many of us rush to be judge, jury, and executioner after reading a story about someone else, lighten up folks wait until all the facts are published and Mr Holder convicted before making comments about his guilt, imagine yourself in his position and especially knowing you are innocent would you like that?

  9. SWAT UNITED STATES says:

Bajegal – You’ve spoken the Truth…the whole Truth….and nothing but the Truth…U go girl… and keep up the good work. Don’t you love the smell of Napalm in the morning?

  10. Caesar Agustus UNITED STATES says:

I am not condoning this case if it is in reality an act of theft.Nor any other pending criminal cases other Guyanese are involved in.If a crime is committed, they must face the penalty.Guyanese nonetheless have to be careful when working and residing in these tourist dependent, transient foreign worker dependency stepping stone islands. The natives, if work related or domestic disputes arise, are quick to institute criminal and immigration proceedings against workers, foreign spouses, and fiancees. This is when you find out that the beauty of these islands are only cosmetic.Underlying this is the unspoken axiom, that as outsiders, your rights are limited, and that you should be seen and not heard.

    • caribbean woman NETHERLANDS ANTILLES says:

What the hell or you talking about. We did not travel to guyana and ask guyanese to come here.
You do not know the facts of the case and you certainly know nothing about St. Maarten so you can stay where you are with your high handedness. Yes we are a small island and guess what, we are doing well… and your country people are flocking here and not leaving. So stepping stone…oh please. Cosmetic give me a break. We have laws and if you break them you will be prosecuted regardless of where you are from. If you would take care of your own people in your own country there would not be any need for the mass exodus.
My friend who is Guyanese is watching me write this and even he is irritated by what you wrote. Since you got where you wanted to be, maybe you should reach out to your country people, or better yet, send out a communique to the people of Guyana NOT to move to St. Maarten. We would appreciate that positive contribution instead of the crap that you have written. So start your movement… take out a ad in Stabroek news… please do so
