An elderly security guard was found murdered in the Soesdyke NDC compound early yesterday morning.

The body of 71-year-old Cecil Hamilton of Soesdyke was discovered with his hands and feet bound with cloth and his mouth stuffed with newspapers, the police said in a release yesterday.

The grillwork to the NDC overseer’s office had been cut and the office ransacked, the statement said, while a safe containing cheque and receipt books was missing along with a computer monitor.

The police are investigating.

The elderly should be able to die peacefully and naturally in retired dignity, not forced to work because their pensions are not enough and then having to die a lonely violent death. Sad. The 106th murder for the year. Still we’re safer than Jamaica, Columbia, and Iraq; though not as safe as USA, UK, C’da.
