Madray, Loaknauth lead the field in FACTS3

FACTS 3 has hit television screens with a fresh crop of student designers and a new mix of models, all vying for the top spots in the respective categories, and so far it has made for interesting viewing.

Public Relations Officer David Clarke said the students are working extremely hard, but admits they are “still coming around”. He said the show has received tremendous feedback since its television launch two weeks ago.

“There has been mostly positive feedback since we aired and also what I would say was constructive criticism. We are taking them all in and progressing as the show continues,” Clarke said in a recent interview.

Clarke is a product of the FACTS 2, which was hailed as bold and exciting reality on local television, and he is now in the folds of designing partners, Michelle Cole-Rose and Trevor Rose. He has taken on the public relations aspect of the show promoting it heavily prior to its official launch.

FACTS 3 started with a batch of ten designers and an equal amount of models, but after the first show three designers dropped out, resulting in a slight blow to the second instalment. There have been no eliminations since, but come tomorrow three student models will be cut.

Clarke said the designers left due to unforeseen circumstances and referred to the situation as unfortunate, but he said the show goes on and that it is likely to grow from “strength to strength”. He praised the current batch of designers and models saying that there is talent still to be awakened.

So far one particular designer, Randy Madray, has stood out, while student model, Seroomanie Loaknauth is leading her field. The two stormed out of the gates flying high from the first episode and based on the online votes on the Factssphere website the public appears to be in agreement on this.

Clarke said the judges are looking for certain key elements in the designs and are paying close attention to the models and how they wear the clothing. He said the competition set out to be different this year and to appeal to a wider audience.

To date the designers have been tasked with designing physical education outfits for school and any outfit of their choice; next up, the little black dress.

Clarke said the designers are expected to produce their version of the classic little black dress for an episode airing tomorrow. He said also that several other tasks are currently underway behind the scenes as the episodes currently airing had been taped weeks in advance.

He advised that persons should stay tuned as FACTS 3 unfolds because “the best is yet to come”. He noted too that the concept of having the show was to foster the growth of young designers in the industry.
