One Republic, the pop rock group which first made headlines with the hit “Apologize”, that broke long-standing records for both legal digital downloads and radio spins hits the stage for DIRECTV & Cityvibe’s concert series this weekend on Channel 999.

According to DIRECT, “Apologize” was not even the song’s original version, but a remix heard on ‘Timbaland Presents: Shock Value’. The original appears on ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ the band’s debut album released in November 2007.

The band’s composition usually has lead vocalist, Ryan Tedder on guitar or piano, Zach Filkins on guitar and backing vocals, Drew Brown on guitar, Brent Kutzle on bass or cello, and Eddie Fisher on drums. One Republic is an unusual rock band. One difference from other groups is that the members of One Republic are always rotating instruments.

For One Republic it’s all about the song. Says Tedder: “If I’m not getting goose bumps when I write the chorus, then others aren’t going to either. I want that ‘hair standing on end’ feeling.” They may have simple melodies but their songs are about real life. Songs on ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ are about what you want versus what you have, why you’re not where you want to be, and how to get where you want to go. That the band members have reached where they have wanted to go seems weird even to them.

Look for the boys to play red hot renditions of their unstoppable chart toppers – “Apologize”, “ Stop And Stare” and the single “Say (All I Need)” as they give it all they’ve got at a sold out gig at Chicago’s House of Blues.

The One Republic concert began airing yesterday and will be on today and tomorrow on Channel 999.

DIRECTV customers with DIRECTV Plus DVR can record for viewing later.

One Republic is scheduled to release its second album this year.
