Ten little girls will vie of the title of ‘Little Princess’ at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground on Sunday in an effort to raise funds for the Burnham Drive Nursery School.

According to President of the Parent Teachers’ Association Lydell Burnette, the little girls were drawn from the 10 nursery schools in Linden.

The contestants are: Alesha Lorrimer representing South Amelia’s Ward; Shernika Kellman, Republic Avenue; Natoya Hartman, Oronoque Drive; Danesha McIntosh, Amelia’s Ward Central; Abigail Adams, Pine Street; Nkechi Layne, Wisroc; Arian Narayne, Burnham Drive; Juwaine Bethune, Watooka; Adella Davidson, West Watooka; and Donella Gravesande, Half Mile nursery schools.

The pageant was held for the first time last year and netted in excess of $75,000 which went towards the erecting of a fence for the school.

Burnette said that this year’s activity was designed to draw a much larger crowd and would see the ‘Little Princess’ walking away with a computer among other prizes. Funds raised this year would be used to purchase and install outdoor facilities for the children of the Burnham Drive Nursery School.

The contestants were introduced at a sashing ceremony at Jac’s Restaurant, a photo shoot at Church’s Chicken at Mackenzie and an intelligence segment at NCN studio. They are also expected to make a courtesy call on Interim Manage-ment Chairman Orin Gordon and Regional Chairman Mortimer and parade the streets on a motorcade.

At the pageant they will model styles of yesteryear in the church wear segment and sport wear as well as perform a talent piece.

Last year’s Princess Anna Lisa Barclay of Amelia’s Ward Central Nursery will be on hand to crown this year’s winner.
