The Guyana Chapter of the St Joseph High School Old Students Association will launch a series of activities including a “70s and 80’s party” and a grand Night of Nostalgia to mark ‘Reunion 2009’.
Activities kick off with a church service at the Cathedral of the Immaculate conception tomorrow morning and then a brunch to be held on the school’s patio in Woolford Avenue. According to President of the Association Wazim Khan persons will be able to enjoy delectable Guyanese cuisine while being entertained by great talents.
On Monday, the staff and students will open their doors and showcase their skills, knowledge and talent at a special open day and exhibition. This, Khan said, provides a great opportunity to interact with those who currently keep the banner of SHJ flying high. A special lunch and a seawall lime late in the afternoon will close activities for this day.
On Tuesday, current students of the school will entertain in song, dance, drama and fashion and poetry at a variety show to be held at the National Cultural Centre.
Khan said the association’s members will take a break on Wednesday when they plan to get down to the business aspects of the reunion and alumni, administrators, the board of governors and the administration and Parent Teachers Association will meet to discuss matters of importance to the school and to chart the way forward.
In the evening they will meet in D’ Aguiar’s Park for an evening of Nostalgia and games. At this event, old students will recount school days and their most interesting high school experiences.
On Thursday a whole day trip to Baganara Island Resort is planned with stops at Fort Island for a tour of the Dutch Heritage Museum.
The exciting 70’s and 80’s party is slated for the Tunnel Night club and everyone is invited to come dressed in the styles of the yesteryear.
The week of activities climax with a grand reunion ball to held at Thirst Park on Saturday July 18. Tickets cost $4500.
A series of memorabilia will be on sale at all events.
