LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The Black Eyed Peas set a record on Thursday for the longest successive No. 1 chart run by a duo or group in the 51-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

“I Gotta Feeling” logged a fifth consecutive week at No. 1, following 12 weeks at the top by “Boom Boom Pow.” Both tunes come from the hip-hop group’s recent No. 1 album “The E.N.D.”

Boyz II Men reigned on the chart for two 16-week runs in the mid-‘90s.

Following “I Gotta Feeling,” Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” held steady at No. 2 and Keri Hilson featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo’s “Knock You Down” rose one to No. 3.

Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” slipped one to No. 4, and Southern rock group Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” jumped six to No. 5.

Sean Kingston’s “Fire Burning” fell one to No. 6, the Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” was off one to No. 7, and Lady GaGa’s “Lovegame” similarly dropped one to No. 8. Katy Perry’s “Waking Up in Vegas” rose one to No. 9.

Jordin Sparks’ “Battlefield” jumped 15 places to No. 10, a day after her album of the same name debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with disappointing sales of just 48,000 copies.

On the heels of member Adam Yauch’s salivary-gland cancer diagnosis, the Beastie Boys returned to the Hot 100 for the first time in five years. “Too Many Rappers,’ featuring Nas, debuted at No. 93. The trio last appeared on the chart in 2004 with “Ch-Check It Out.”
